You know, like they have for pre-ordering Photopass or Photopass plus in the parks? Do they ever have a deal for Shutters? I'm a photo addict and I know I'll want the CD, so I'm just trying to see if there's any kind of discount option. Thanks!

None that I've read/heard of.

I am sure Minnie321 will comment, did Magic and bough $250. Deal. Got home to print them out could not resize so boaders did not come out right. We have done the photo pass at WDW nothing close to that. Suggest buy a few phots printed take them home and scan them. Take a lot of pictures on your own.
This one area DCL needs to make big changes.

Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha!!
No okay to be serious I do think I read somewhere that if you preorder your $200 worth of pictures you might save $5.00.
Shutters is the worst thing on the ship - If I were you I woud spend the money on a good camera and take your own pictures!!!

They used to have a prepaid option for number of prints. This was done the same way you can purchase spa or gifts ahead of time. It was in the form of 'credits' which ended up being confusing as they were not easy to estimate in the number of prints. I don't think it's an option any more.

Today, the only 'specials' are fixed number of prints (10 or 15) and the photo CDs. They are either 10 or 15 prints, or the length of trip CD (price goes up based on the number of nights). You also have the option to get all the prints for an additional $50.

If you book with AAA, you get a photo package which depends if it's an inside or outside stateroom (outside is either with or without verandah). That translates to a $100 credit (outside cabin offer) you can use towards one of the CD options.
But that's about it.

su A ve is correct. That option is no longer available.

I agree with Minnie123, bring a good camera with you. DH has a really nice DSLR and we had the CM with the characters use it to take pictures. They were as good if not better then the ones that the Shutters photographer took.
It was obvious that the CM's with the characters are very familiar and comfortable with all types of cameras.

Pros of bringing your own camera:
Cheaper
You can print any size you want to
You can crop
You don't get the borders

Con:
You don't get the cool borders

Three types of pictures are taken by Shutters. Pictures with characters, pictures at the dining rooms and formal shots. The last one, is the one you cannot do on your own.

Shutters is prohibited to take a picture with your camera. However, characters are always accompanied by a CM. And the CM will be more than glad to take a picture for you. This would be the only way to get a family picture with them. Of course, there are some CMs that have no clue on taking a picture, but for the most part, you'll get GREAT shots.

Picture at the dining rooms, I've taken better pictures and even my DS15 has taken great shots of me and DW.

Formals is different - these are done on a background (sunset, ship in the back, beach background, or simply white). It's a great opportunity to get them done on formal nights. Other ones are taken with the Captain, and others taken by the grand stairs.

On our first trip, the ship was 3/4 full. Lines were very short (no more than 5-10') so we took advantage of shutters from the get go. On a 5n cruise we had over 100 shots with them. We did purchase the CD and we knew we were going for that.

On our second trip, the ship was full (Wonder) and had over 1200 kids. Lines were extremely long for shots with the characters. And since the trip was less than a year from the previous one, we skipped them. Only a few character pictures. But we did get several formal shots and purchased the 10 picture on CD package.

We've had our picture taken on formal nights (with the captain, and with a couple of different backgrounds) by a CM at the photo location, no problem.

I have a good camera already (Canon 7D) which will be coming along on the cruise for sure! But, since I'm a photo junkie, I'll probably want some Shutters pics, too. Good to know about the character shots and getting them taken by the CMs. I can always do that and then do one of the smaller CD packages for the formal pictures if I want. Although, knowing me, I'll probably end up buying the CD even with my camera there!

The borders are horrific and hard to photo shop out. Just unlocked my ten photos from Easter on the Fantasy today. Last time I bought the cd with all of the photos but I was not willing to do that with the awful borders.

This is very YMMV as there is no need for a CM to be there. If they are, for capacity control they may be able to help. Shutters personnel are not CMs are not allowed to touch a guest's camera.

I would stand behind the shutters rep and take a shot right after him when taking pictures of the kids (and gotten good ones) but that's about it.
