Are there character meals on 4 day Wonder?

We are taking our very first Disney Cruise this May, and it's extra special because we are bringing our baby for her first trip as well!! My question is regarding character meals - how do they work? Is is like character meals in parks, or do the characters just kind of appear at different times throughout the day? Also, are there characters available in all of the restaurants as well?

Thanks, Tiger aka Piglet's Momma

There are no character meals on the 4-day.
Sorry.

So does that mean that characters aren't visible at all during meal times? What about lunches and dinners? This is very disappointing as my DH and I thought that we would for sure get to see our daughter interact with the characters during meals. If anyone else could explain about the character interaction (eg. is it only scheduled times, certain places, etc...?) on the 4 day Wonder I'd be very grateful.

Other than a little milling about during the embarkation buffet (I only saw Chip and Dale), there will be no characters during the meals. There are available for visits in the atrium during specified times.

Fret not, little one. While there are no character meals on the 4-day, characters are everywhere. There is a list in the Navigator where you can find out which characters are going to be where. So, while your DD won't get to interact with them during meals, she will get to see plenty of Disney characters during the course of the cruise.

Am I to assume that there isn't much character interaction during meal times because it's a shorter cruise, or is it like this on the Magic as well? I know that you say that there will be plenty of character interaction, but why not during meal times? Silly of us to assume (we all know what happens when we assume!) that there would be character meals aboard. My DH is going to be really disappointed once I tell him this as we love character meals as adults, so we were so looking forward to experiencing them with our DD as a family on our first Disney Cruise.

There is only one character meal on the Magic per family, so it's not much different. There is some character interaction in the clubs. How old is your DD? There is Tea with Wendy Darling, Do Si Do with Snow White and Storytime with Belle (I think) in the Oceaneer's Club.

On the 7 day cruise, you get tickets to one character breakfast. That's the only meal with characters on the 7 day cruise. The characters are available in the atrium for meet and greets as well, but there isn't true character dining like you get in the parks on DCL, with the exception of the one character breakfast on the 7 day. The characters are readily available and easy to find, but they do keep them out of the dining rooms for the most part. The characters also make appearances in the clubs for the kids, so they do get some good one on one attention there as well.

We've been on the Wonder 4-day twice, and both times we saw characters each morning at the Parrot Cay breakfast buffet. It isn't a "scheduled" character breakfast, so no guarantees or even specific times, but we went for breakfast there the first three mornings of both cruises around 9 am (after our 7 am room service breakfast on the verandah-but that's another thread) and got lots of pictures with characters.

There are plenty of scheduled character appearances and lots of impromptu ones, so you shouldn't be short on character meet and greet experiences in case the characters are no longer prowling around the Parrot Cay breakfast buffet. I hope they are, though, as we're going in three weeks and taking the kids for the first time-I'd love for them to get to see characters at breakfast, too.

The Wonder embarkation lunch at Parrot Cay is a good "unofficial" character spotting opportunity too. I can't even remember all the characters we've seen, but I think we've seen Dopey, Chip and Dale, and even Captain Hook at various times. You never know when they will turn up!
And be sure to go to the "farewell" on the last night, as that is another great character opportunity. It is not "controlled" like a regular autograph/photo session, but you should definitely get some pictures.
