Are there bugs in California?

I am a mosquito magnet but I haven't had a bite since I moved back to Orange County from Virginia in 2015. My city does amazing vector control, as does Anaheim. There are bees and butterflies at DL, and that's about it.

I've been doing DL for a long time. Never had a bite from a mosquito or anything else. Honestly, this might be the first time I've ever thought about bug spray and Disneyland at the same time. So....thanks! I feel smarter.

I live 500 miles north of DL (in CA, north of Sacramento). We have a creek and a pond on our property and mosquitoes are certainly part of the equation at times. We do have what is locally known as the Mosquito Abatement Program, which limits the time span in which it's a problem but doesn't completely eradicate it.

That said, I've never even thought about bug spray for DLR. I've never seen a mosquito there.

I've been going to DLR for years and never have seen a mosquito or many bugs at all. Orange County has a serious vector control program.

I live close to DL and have my entire life (45 years next month!). Not only have I never been bitten at DL but I very rarely get a mosquito bite, *maybe* once a year but usually I’ll go the whole summer without even one bite. I don’t own any bug spray, but we are going to Mammoth Lakes in the Sierra Nevadas next week and I just realized I will need to buy some bug spray so thank you for this post!

Also, if anyone can recommend some natural bug spray (that actually works) I would really appreciate it!

I’ve never been bitten in the parks but I have when relaxing on my balcony at the Grand Californian. I do like to hang out there around dusk and into the evening so that is probably why. I should remember some bug repellent next time; I always get attacked around the ankles when at the Grand. I don’t remember this happening at WDW at all, even though I have the same habit of hanging out on the BLT and VGC balconies.

And I am a mosquito magnet so others may avoid this.
