We want to go in January and really would like the FD is there any tip to getting a pin. Also, how far in advance to your stay do they offer pins? Is it too early now to start looking to get a Pin.

They offer them randomly all the time. If you already booked a stay, they may or may not, as they don't need to, to get you to book.
I generated one this month by pricing a resort I don't normally look at. I know this is what did it, as I got an email saying "Come back and book your stay at OKW...and here's a sale."
It can really be hit or miss, no one seems to be able to guarantee a pin by doing anything.
Hope you get one!

The rule of thought is that you setup an id on the disneyworld.com site and book 'pretend' trips that cover the timeframe you are intending to go. Save the vacation and then in the next few weeks the Disney Destination web address sends you follow-ups. If you have an account and this hasn't worked, then setup a new web address and re-register. Good Luck!!

I've been stumped with this question for years now. Went for first time in 1995 and never saw or was given a pin as DH would've jumped all over it. I honestly think PINs only go/are given to more frequent visitors. :confused3

I have been a few times (sig.) and have yet to receive a pin in my name. I have always had to wait until the GP or AP codes came out. That rules out a frequent visitor.

Are you signed up for emails on the disney world website?? I always get mine through email from Disney Destinations. I used to go every year and yes, we always got a PIN here and there then.. but its been 4 years since my last trip and this year alone, I received at least 8 PIN's in my email or regular mail! I used one of them for Free Dining for my upcoming trip. It is random, but they tend to send them out to those who haven't been booked in quite some time to get them to come back. But, there are people who go frequently and still get one so you never know. Good luck!

Do the pin numbers expire? I have priced out and saved numerous offers, and I think I got an email one time, but I didn't look at it. I thought it waas just spam and sent it to the trash. Is there a way to recover it?

Yes they do eventually expire. Some people call disney to see if they have a PIN attached to their name, incase of something like that. You should try that!

My last two snail mail pins came exactly the same way. I had priced a trip and saved it, and a few weeks before the dates, I got a pin offering 30% off if I booked and took the trip in June, and the latest one I got today, from 15 Aug to 29 Sep.

Several months ago I logged on and saved several vacation packages for the fall. I had no intentions of going in the fall but it was well before rates/packages were out for February, when I am going, and my husband was asking ball-park pricing questions. I just logged on and picked several non-holiday/non-peak weeks and played around with resorts/package options, saving several of them to my email. I also ordered a CD and some maps.

Not much later, I received a PIN in the mail. Of course it was for the fall when my fictitious vacations were saved, and it expired maybe a month after it arrived. I had to throw it away because there was no way that I could change our dates.

The last time I was at WDW was in September 2006. Definitely not a frequent visitor (though I wish I were!)

I've heard that ordering a dvd can generate a pin deal :)

:wave2:

1 year 2 months and 5 days until my next Disney vacation.

For the first time in over 30+ stays we finally got a "pin code". We decided to go to the Animal Kingdom Lodge in March & when I called Disney reservations they told me that a pin code was attached to my name. Boy did I jump for joy!!! I'm signed up everywhere Disney & never have gotten anything before this one.

It is not only frequent visitors. We have not been since 2009 and I got a pin code for FD about a month before it was announced.

It was painful for me to not use it, but we had already planned our vacation for this summer.

It did however light a fire under my family and I about planning for next year.:cool1:

It's actually more likely to be infrequent visitors. We have gone a lot and rarely get anything.

That's my thought, too. I've never gotten so many pins as I have this summer when I started playing around with the reservation system...and it's been three years since we've been.

I go on a regular basis every year and only got one pin code in the mail - years ago and another pin code after sending a complaint about something else.

Other than that, I have done everything as mentioned, updated info, sent for resort cd's, sign up for everything, etc.

I have called many times to check and it's always no. I have been told it is a random process.

I almost wish they did not do it at all and just stick with the special offers since it can be so discouraging. I mean it's great when you get it but discouraging when others do (and more discouraging when they say they won't use it)!
