thank you!!

i have downloaded some new skins from the web and DH has put them into my game now. when the new skins were uploaded into the game, the outfits that were skirts, became a funky combination of skirts and pants on the same skin! i'm just wondering if anyone knows how to fix it...i'm wondering if we did something wrong when we put them into the game...do you know the proper way to put them into the game?

i would appreciate any assistance i can get...

have you played both versions of the sims? how different is the PS2 version from the PC version?

i love my sims...i have all of the expansion packs and i just can't get enough right now!!

I havent played the PC version. But I am just at the point of mastering the regular version. I read on here that there will be a Superstar expansion kit. I definately want that one!!! What other expansion kits are there? (Maybe I shouldn't know..... ) LOL No housework will ever get done again!!!

oh desiree! thank you so very much for that link!!! i had just about given up hope!!! none of the sites that i got the skins from are very clear on what to do with the files once they've been downloaded...this is wonderful!!! i'm going to try and repair my skins this evening...

thank you thank you thank you!!!!!!
:bounce: :Pinkbounc :bounce: :Pinkbounc :bounce:

my sims thank you too!! ;)

You're quite welcome! Do you find yourself thinking of your life in the "terms" of The Sims now? For example, my bladder quotent is rather red now! LOL

It's sick, I know..... Chris's social interation with me is probably like -20 or something. hehehehe

matthew (my DH) chuckles at me cuz if there's something i'm not happy about, i guess i "act" like a sim. i stand there and shake my head or throw my arms up and down or i just look pitiful! he'll ask me "what's not right in your world?" he tells me "you look like one of your sims"

LOL I know what you mean. I find myself even quoting the game (even though you can tell what they are saying) LOL

I'm cracking up over here. I've been trying not to play constantly, because now my son's favorite sayings is "Carbonschnatta" - which is a close interpretation of a Sim on the telephone...LOL!!
Edited to add - he does this while nodding his head slowly, just like the Sim characters - it doesn't translate well here, but it's hilarious to see. :teeth:

hehehe...

um, gee, gail...and just how did you get hooked on the sims?

hehehe :teeth:

I was ignoring my real family for a while there too. ;)

Now I have so many problems with my Sims that I don't play very much.
I have built some beautiful homes (my favorite thing to do on there) and I can't even enter them!
When I go to the house, the game crashes. I tried bulldozing them, but the game crashes.
I've downloaded something that causes "animation" problems.
Like when the Sim is supposed to be jumping on the trampoline, he gets a bubble above his head that says "missing animation". He doesn't bounce but he eventually gets the point for exercising anyway.
Some objects I put in the houses, disappear when I go to "live mode".
These are just a few of the problems I am having and it's very frustrating! I've gone to many sites for help but I'm not getting anywhere.
I do think The Sims is a fantastic game!
I actually have Shrek and what's her name in my skins!
She looks normal but then she is an ogre when she wears her pajamas! They even have bathing suits. I built them a great castle to live in. It IS fun!! :p

i think that once i figure out the game itself and have a pretty good grasp on it, i will attempt to create my own skins and stuff. i think that i have the software to do it, but i just haven't attempted it yet! matthew did, at one point, put our faces onto sims! that was weird!! i'd be playing along and when you tell then to do something and their face pops up, it was odd looking back at my own face!!! i lost that game when our harddrive crashed...but i have found some really cool downloads recently...i found a rejuvenator! when your sim is low on hunger, bladder, or whatever points, they can go into this rejuvenator (looks like a shower) and it refreshes everything! it's been a godsend!! i had a sim who could not maintain social points whatsoever. whenever i'd try to have her call or invite someone over or talk to someone downtown/on vacation or whatever, they didn't like her! she had a perfect personality too...(do you know about that cheat?) couldn't figure out what the heck was wrong with her...so i got her a dog, but that didn't help much either! but since i found that rejuvenator thing, she's back to "normal" and other sims like her! but now i'm having problems with the dog...i'm wondering if i should get another pet so that she will have constant interaction...

i am so sim addicted it's not even funny...although i do limit myself on how often i play. i go in spurts...one week, i'll play everyday for several hours and then i won't touch it again for a few weeks. i've got all of the hint books for each expansion pack too...i've learned some pretty interesting cheats from them!

montessori...i've had those problems too...my pet occasionally flashes the "no animation" warning. and i had problems with my floors disappearing! i would build a 2 story house and then in one of the areas on the 2nd floor, a big chuck of the floor would disappear! no matter what i did i couldn't fix it. i finally gave up and reinstalled the game again. it runs a little slower now, but i think that the game runs slower when you use the patch so you don't have to have the cd in there everytime...another hint...as you're building your houses, stop and save what you've done several times throughout the building process! i've lost several awesome houses because the game crashed on me...it would make me soooooooooo mad because it takes quite awhile before the house is exactly the way i want it and then i would lose everything!

it's so nice to know that i am not the only sim addicted person out there!

If you go to the Sims website they have downloads for registered uses. I recommend getting "Simcop" It is a program that will search for problem skins and objects. Fixed my problem with a faulty skin.

Brandi,
My daughter is always reminding me to save what I'm doing while I'm building a house. It is a very important tip! I've lost too many great houses that way too!
I don't know where I got it but I have a brownie the Sims can eat and all their moods are elevated. One Sim can eat it and all the Sims in the house get the same effect. If the brownie is around anywhere, the maid goes right for it and throws it away!
I do have a few Sims that never seem to like what they are talking about, even though I have had them study all the different subjects.
It's a very interesting game, that's for sure!
I don't know anyone personally who plays The Sims, although I've told many people about it.
I haven't played much lately but I'm going to later today!

Enjoy!

Yeah, Brandie, I wonder WHO I should blame about my SIMS habit???   :p :p :p

As for the problem with your perfect Sim - who the heck wants to be friends with someone who's perfect???? Maybe that's the problem. Unless you have other perfect Sims to interact with her, the other ones are probably intimidated or sumpin... ;) My friends don't have a problem, but Sims might! :teeth:

Epcotfan,
I tried SimsCop and it didn't find any bad files. I Know there must be bad files in there somewhere. I could uninstall and reinstall but I've downloaded so many neat things that I don't want to lose!
I get frustrated because I can't get any help from the main Sims web site.
Oh well, I can manage! It's still fun!

thank you for that tip epcotfan!! i've seen that dowload at the site but haven't downloaded it yet...i may have to try that tonight!

yeah...your friends don't mind...;)

the personality cheat i found...when you create your sim, don't give them any personality points whatsoever. build their house, but don't really worry much about furnishing it. in one room, set up a fridge, bed, toilet, and something to entertain them with, like a video game or pinball, or just suck it up and spend the money for the rejuvenator...and also get them the chemistry set. keep them making potions over and over again...and eventually, i think you want the yellow one. when they drink the yellow one, their personality reverses itself! so if you're sim has lots of points, they will lose them but if they have none, they will get all of them filled in!! there are a few potions that you want to keep your sim from drinking...the blue one is ok, that's a refresher...the red one makes someone either fall in love with your sim or makes them hate your sim...the yellow one is the personality thing...and i think that i avoid the others. the trick though is that when you make a potion that you don't want to drink, make your sim do something else...then go into buy mode, sell the chemistry set, and then buy another one! you can keep doing this over and over again until they get the right potion...

you all know the money cheats, right?

anyone have any other good tips/cheats?
