My DH and I often stop casually for a meal at pubs when we are on our travels around the UK. Sometimes the food is fantastic and other times although the pub itself looks lovely the food is dire eg microwaved lasagne etc. Have any of you got any recommendations in and around where you live?
I'll start. Yesterday we were in Lakeside in Essex shopping and afterwards we went to a wonderful pub at a little village called Hornden On The Hill . It was named The Bell, I think. If you like your food messed about this place is wonderful. For starters I had artichoke dauphinoise with chicken livers in egg drop soup!!!!! Wow. Then I had celeriac ravioli with wild mushrroms in truffle oil. This was truly amazing, and to follow ganache of chocolate. YUM!!!! Although I love Disney dearly this meal for 2 was £55 but if I had eaten it at any of the Disney restaurants it would have set us back at least twice as much.
Have any of you got pubs that you would recommend? The food needn't be fancy just fresh and well cooked? Carolyn
