Are there any perks for owning Disney Stock?

I own several cruise company stocks (CCL & RCI) and you get onboard credit when you cruise with them...Does Disney do anything like this? :confused3

They used to give a card that allowed a 10% discount on most purchases and discounts on rooms. They also used to give free admission tickets to the people who attended the stockholder's meetings.

Now they don't give anything and they hold the stockholer's meetings far, far away from the parks.

The honor of withholding your votes for Michael Ei$ner every year. :teeth:

Stockholder perks were discontinued, one reason being the vast number of stockholders (read: company owners) possessing just one share of stock each.

Single shares of Disney stock, some of them framed, can be obtained from a variety of sources. Every time somebody purchases one, Disney must add the purchaser to the mailing list to send out each year the annual report with glossy color cover.

Then, periodically, Disney engages a company such as Georgeson's Shareholders Inc. to convince these "nuisance stockholders" to sell back the single shares of stock and pay a fee in the process.

Perhaps Disney may some day restore stockholder perks but only to those possessing some minimum number of shares. Then watch the flames fly from those critizing the ideas of additional fastpasses to guests in Disney's deluxe resorts.

Excuse me seashorecm, but I object to you calling one share owners "nuisance stockholders".

My son proudly owns one share and has the certificate proudly hanging on his wall. We bought it for him a few years back to teach him about stocks and such.

I paid good money for it just like anyone else would have. One share or one thousand does not matter.

The primary perk of owning Disney stock is that you get to experience the wonder of pure imagination as you pretend the the Disney Board is acting in your best interest and that they care what you and other stock holders think. Who needs to visit Fantasyland when you can simply own Disney stock and experience pure fantasy at home by reading the company's annual report.

Just bought $1,000 worth of Disney Stock, think it might actually do well once Eisner departs.

Regardless, at least I now have a chance of recouping earnings on some of my vacation dollars.

I must admit that I was hoping for a "freebie" from the Mouse-guess those days are over.

SEASHORE CM- Regarding those flashy books once a year, do you know where I would contact to request only one at our house instead of the 3 we get for each one of the kids who are stockholders?

Woo-HOO!

Seriously, I was told that there are no rewards at the moment - the card is now gone and buried :(
