Are there any other role-players out here on the DIS?

years ago (6 or 7) when we were first married DH brought home this computer game called Baldur's Gate. What's that, I asked? And he showed me. And I never looked back. He bought me BG2 when it came out and TOB. I am still hooked on BG2 thanks to all the mods people have made for it.

that's as close to any RPG as I've come. :)

For some reason I didn't like Baldur's Gate. I don't know why really.

I played Diablo and then Diablo II for quite a while. I actually reinstalled Diablo II after I quit EQ. It doesn't have anywhere near the content that EQ has, but you can spend half an hour playing and get something accomplished. With EQ you almost have to spend atleast two hours or so per sitting to get anything done.

After the bazaar opened in EQ I really didn't even play the game to level my chars. I only played to buy low and sell high and make tons of money! It was so easy. I got more thrill out of playing the market than I did out of killing things!

There's that itch again. I really want to reinstall it just to see what's been going on while I've been gone, but I don't want to get sucked in again. :o

come on...ya know ya wanna play!!

honestly been playing eq for about 4 yrs...its $12 a month,

I am a SAHM. My kids go to sleep around 8...and thats about it. I dont go out or to the movies *my little one is 13 months and older is 8*

since we have kept the routine of bedtime ... after 8 its my husbands and my time. I dont enjoy TV all that much and cards are great but...

Anywho..enter EQ!! My husband and I have great adventures together..we work with our guild. we have a great time discussing where we are going, what items we want to camp, what zones we want to explore. we disuss our goals and AA's and generally have the whole world of norrath to have fun together.

we always have somthing to talk about...on raid nights we have a blast with the rest of the guild.

We only play once the kids are asleep, so we are not taking away time from them..granted though there are people who cannot control thier gaming time.

Generally I think of the cost this way..... Once a month DH and I could go to the movies...which would also include babysitting costs...and dinner if its a night out for us.

For $24 (for both) a month..my husband and I have 30 days of haveing fun, discussions, ideas and good times. It makes the weekend nights fun and we dont have to leave our children who are happily asleep in thier own beds.

works for us :)

Oh I totally agree that it is cheap entertainment. I just find myself spending way too much time playing. Actually, I probably spend just as much time on these boards and other message boards now as I did playing EQ. Everyone has to have a bad habit right? I don't smoke and I don't drink....I DIS.

I'm very tempted to start playing again. I'm trying to resist. I've quit a couple of times before. After playing for so long there comes a point where I look back and think about all of the time invested in playing and I don't have anything to show for it. It really starts to bother me so I quit. But I guess I can say the same thing about message boards. What do you have to show for the time invested?

/sigh

My resistance is crumbling.

In our D&D game, my character is an antiques dealer. Her main purpose on all of our adventures is to find stuff and she's about to start a new business, opening a menagerie of magical creatures which she is going to try and collect on her travels. :)

It's definately not all hack and slash. I love the role playing aspects. Don't get me wrong, slaying a troll who's just eaten a village of innocents is fun and all, but playing a character who has big goals is really fun. :)

I love RPG's! :cloud9: My boyfriend introduced me to them when we started dating about six years ago. We play tons, but our favorite is the Final Fantasy series. Right now I'm playing Kingdom Hearts by Disney.
