Are there any DVC discounts on park tickets going on now?

We plan to renew our APs that expire just before our planned Xmas 2021 trip. But we want to make park pass reservations soon-ish (we definitely don't want to wait until October!) so the advice we got from the CM on the AP line was to buy park tickets, link them and make park pass reservations now, and then apply the cost of the park tickets to our AP renewals when our renewal window opens. Our Xmas trip is currently booked as a 2-week trip so any discounts, etc. would be really helpful... thanks!

None via Disney. The best you can do is use a third party.

We just got notice that our park passes for Feb will be cancelled tomorrow if I don’t link tickets. I have a resort reservation. Why doesn’t that count anymore? Our APs renew in Dec. I think I’ll take my chances for a Feb trip once we do renew, but I’d be more upset if it was a fall trip. They are just pummeling AP holders. I don’t get it.

I can’t promise this will help, but you can call the Passholder line 407-939-7277 and politely ask to renew your APs now so you won’t lose your park reservations. If that doesn’t work, you might consider buying regular tickets for those dates because you can probably apply the cost of those tickets to your AP renewal. I think I’ve been reading the last few days that the Passholder CMs have been advising people to do that. Good luck!

I’m a true disinterested novice at this stuff, but I didn’t think it would matter?
Doesn’t the price paid for your ticket get applied to the AP ??
Perhaps I truly know nothing....

Yes, the amount paid will be applied to the AP price, but the AP price must be higher than the ticket cost.

We've decided to cancel and take some time off from Disney next year. I'll rent the points. I am not eager to beg Disney to let me give them more money now for the privilege of spending more money with them in the parks next year. I am just going to rent the points I banked into next year and take a year off. Hopefully things will get a little more sane by then. I know Disney won't care as there are at least 3 families behind me eager to take our place if we sell, but Disney is really cutting into the magic of DVC ownership a lot lately. This park pass system may be the beginning of the end for us. I do hope it goes away eventually. Sorry to hijack your post @kboo. My vent is done here.

UPDATE: Happy ending ... I was not on hold for very long at all, but called DVC Member Services and renewed our APs, linked everything, and I'm making park passes for Christmas/New Year's 2021.

Yep, that's what the CM on the AP line had said, which was going to be a hassle since we had a 14-day trip currently booked, it may change, but the longest period ticket you can buy is 10 days. #DVClife, haha. I book lodging to cover all the days, not even knowing when the kids will have off, and then we figure it out from there.

It does, but then it involves standing in line in person and applying to get the renewal price, etc. And it wasn't clear whether a 10-day ticket would actually cost more than a DVC renewal AP. Certainly a 10+4 or 2x7-day tickets would cost more, and then you have this problem:

Yes, the amount paid will be applied to the AP price, but the AP price must be higher than the ticket cost.

that's probably smart. We just moved 17 min. away from Disney, we are going for a couple days in May, I plan to do a trip report, when I come home, and be honest about wait times, magic bands and other things Disney feels the need to push on us. There are quite a few unhappy neighbors. We shall see. Happily, universal is just down the road a bit, the vero beach resort is beautiful, and we are out of here in June and July.
