Are there any circumstances where DVC will allow you to change contract shortly after signing?

I'm having a bit of "buyers remorse" now that the BLT incentives are out. I just signed a couple weeks ago but am still not fully paid up (no loan, all cash but am doing multiple payments on CC). I purchased 200AKV but now want to purchase 300 BLT.

Would they be able to execute a change like this? I feel like an idiot!

Highly unlikely if you're past the 7 day window. But you can always call your guide and ask. What's the worst that can happen - you add on to BLT also? Honestly, your AKV points will go a long way at BLT at 7 months. Plenty of Lake View available most times of the year.

I just booked at BLT for August using AKV points. I think lake view rooms are easier to get and still have great views such as water pageant. I personally prefer AKV booking options, styling and transport issues are overrated.

Your contract is probably the best answer to this. Does it allow you to back out within 7 days or 30 days or something similar?

If not, can always ask your guide. I haven’t bought direct before so do not know the process or the contract.

You have 10 days to back out or change.

Thanks all for your reply! I am trying to get in touch with my guide now.

I just pulled up my contract and yes, 10 days.

YOU MAY CANCEL THIS CONTRACT WITHOUT ANY PENALTY OR OBLIGATION WITHIN 10 CALENDAR DAYS AFTER THE DATE YOU SIGN THIS
CONTRACT OR THE DATE ON WHICH YOU RECEIVE THE LAST OF ALL DOCUMENTS REQUIRED TO BE GIVEN TO YOU PURSUANT TO SECTION
721.07(6), FLORIDA STATUTES, WHICHEVER IS LATER.

I wonder if the fact that I haven't fully paid yet would fulfill the part of the statute where it says "last of all documents"... hmm...

The rescission period per Florida Statute is 10 days http://www.leg.state.fl.us/Statutes...ing=&URL=0700-0799/0721/Sections/0721.10.html since OP is beyond that there’s no legal requirement for DVC to rescind to enable them to purchase another resort. OP could check & see if DVC was willing to do so even though not required to.

When final payment is made isn’t relevant really, after all some people who take out loans to buy don’t make their final payments until 10 years later.

For better or worse, if you are beyond your rescission period, DVD is probably not going to void and re-write a contract. However, maybe that's for the better, because....

...this sort of thing happens all the time! But, there are reasons you bought 200 AKV points, and all of those reasons are still there. You'll still have years of great vacations and memories.

In particular, there's probably a reason you bought 200 points rather than 300 points. Partly, it was probably because of the $10pp developer credit, which is a nice thing. But, maybe it was also partly because 200 points was plenty for what you need right now---otherwise, you'd've bought more. Sounds like the promotion would have encouraged you to over-buy for what you need right now so maybe it is better that you bought when you did?

Very doubtful. I suspect that if they re-write this for you it would be an exception---and this is the sort of exception that happens at best vanishingly rarely. It can't hurt to ask, but I'd encourage you to expect no for an answer.

Yeah I figure my chances are super slim--but doesn't hurt to try I suppose!

And it's not 100% buyers remorse (in my head at least). I still want DVC and I was actually going to be purchasing a resale contract as well, which I've been endlessly shopping around for. Ultimately, I want to get to 500-600 points.

Either way, I'm still gonna be pretty happy. If I get a BLT resale contract, it'll be prob 150pts so I'll have resort priority in two resorts and 300 points at BLT should suffice for what I want-- 1BR+, Dec-Feb travel window, and 350pts to play with rather than 300. Other resale option is SSR for 200pts so I can get some nice SAP or just stay at SSR, which is fantastic after the renos (based on the videos)

I think they may let you do it since they will be selling you more points!

As long as you haven't fully closed as can be checked but the Florida Controllers/Auditors site.

Good luck!!

If you want 500 points and you have 200 AKV, you could still take advantage of the 300 BLT sale. You’d have all 500 points unrestricted. You should be able to split the 300 into two 150-point contracts and still get the sale price.

Of course, resale is still cheaper than the direct incentives.

Getting too 500 is a medium term goal. Definitely can't do the 500 right off but splitting it into two contracts might be a good idea!

@ all, HERE IS A WRENCH:

Before I decided to just keep AKV, I had already sent out an email to my guide inquiring.

Well, lo and behold, he responded and said that he might actually be able to do it. I honestly didn't think it would be possible and it still might not be but hmm... Now I'm undecided again.

THis is my first ever big purchase outside of a car... I'll never be able to afford a house where I live (SF Bay Area) and my job is region locked so I just can't move jobs with same company if I move. I'm now realizing just how danged indecisive I am.

I'm sorry if Ive been annoying everyone with some of my indecisive posts. Please forgive!

My two options were this:

Keep AKV 200 and buy a loaded 160pt BLT Resale and rent the points that expire at end of UY. Total cost for that config, including cash back from CC (for AKV Direct Contract) and est. point rental: $59175 for 360 mixed dir/ind points at 2 resorts.

300 Direct Contract BLT at 210pt plus cash back from CC is
$61296

Both are within the middle limits of the budget I placed for first round purchase. I plugged these numbers into my spreadsheet and, assuming a uniform 3.5% increase in dues annually over 20 years, the 300 direct BLT contract would cost more than the 360 mixed contract. Obviously though the direct contract would be unrestricted but the 360 would still have 200 unrestricted points.

I love numbers ... in my spreadsheet it comes out to

Oof, I never factored in deed or total points like that! Im gonna have to copy some stuff from your sheet haha! I love spreadsheets too. How do you calculate your dues? Are you using a normalized increase like I was?
