Are the Value Resorts all the same?

Other than theming, are the value resorts basically the same? Is there any thing that would make one stand out as preferred or better? A bigger food court? Closer bus stop? Quieter?

Hard call to make there. I think that POP has a slight advantage being the newest of the four. As for food courts.....all four are going to be packed to the rafters.......

Well I'm far from the Value Resort expert but it is my understanding that the Movies is the one most needing renovations? I thought I read that the rooms at the Sports have all been recently updated as of 2008. Hopefully someone else will give a definite answer about that. For me, a 'newer' room would sway me.

We've stayed at ASSP once and Pop many times and while the rooms are basically the same (besides theming), Pop has a much bigger food court/gift shop area and does not share a bus like the All Star Resorts. We love Pop - it's one of our favorite resorts!

The whole bus sharing thing is way overdone. We have stayed at ASMusic twice and never had to share but also always were able to get a seat. There is a trade-off between sharing sometimes and having more frequent buses if you stay at the AS resorts (since you can take any AS bus). Pop also has 50 percent more rooms than each AS Resort, and each AS resort has its own front desk, concierge desk, gift shop and food court. Some people don't like how the food court at Pop is Combined with the store. There are also poolside movies at ASMusic which any AS guest can go to.

As for "newness" the rooms at both ASSports and ASMusic have been completely redone in the past couple of years, as have some of the common areas. So I would consider those the newest of the value resorts.

But...Pop definitely has a nice kiddie pool.

I would stay at any of the value resorts, but for now our favourite is ASMusic.

The values are basically the same, but with trade offs. POP is newer, but more crowded and closer to the parks. AS Sports is the least popular, but has the first bus pickup/dropoff and just finished refurb. AS Music and Movies are going through refurb. but are more popular than the other two. I am sure one persons idea of theming is different from another.

I soooo agree! We stayed at ASSp for 10 nights and NOT ONCE did we share a bus (in fact, once my oldest son and I returned to the room mid-afternoon from AK and we had the bus to ourselves!).

OP, as for your original question - we very much enjoyed ASSp! The rooms were very clean and newly refurbished. The pools were great fun and the lifeguards were super, very serious about watching everyone in/around the pool, but still quite friendly. The CMs were great too - friendly and anxious to ensure our vacation was wonderful

We're really looking forward to staying at ASMu - my boys can't wait to experience those pool games!

I think that the buses were more of a pain at ASMusic than at POP. Also, the food court at POP was bigger,more people, but more choices. I found the food court at ASMusic to be the least enjoyable. The rooms are basically the same no matter which resort, although because of the design of ASMusic if you get one of the rooms that is in the Country/Western section it's a looong hike to the food court/buses. Even at POP where we were in the 90's (supposedlt one of the least-desirable sections) we didn't find the walk to the common areas/buses bad at all.

And, yes, a lot of people have posted that the layout at Pop is better, especially if you're furthest away from the main building

Thanks everyone! This trip would be for my daughter (22) and myself. I'll have just returned from a trip with my husband so this one will need to cut a few corners. Pop seems to be the CSR of the Values Resorts...

I can tell you that the bus stop at ASSp is uncovered. Well, the line area is uncovered, but there is an overhang all along the back area with seating.

Yes, the bust stops are uncovered, but there are benches behind the bus stops that seem to be in the shade most of the time.
