Are the usually discounts in December?

We've never gone in December but plan on going the first week (11-30 thru 12-6). Right now we've got a pretty standard value rate for a Savannah View at the AKL with the dining plan. Are there any chances that they'll run a special and we'll get a better deal 60 days out?

I doubt it. Getting a value rate is pretty darn good, what else were you hoping to get? It used to be a really low crowd time but has definitely picked up in recent years. It is a great time to go, great weather and all of the fun Christmas stuff!!

This was last Decembers AP rates

$59 for standard room at a Value resort
$169 for studio at a DVC

Both include a Dining card with 2 night min. stay between 12/9 and 12/15

You might get better feedback if you post this under "Codes and Rates-." Click on Disney Resorts and you'll find a sub-forum titled codes and rates.

So, you're paying rack rate during value season, right? Do you have AAA, you can receive a discount on the "room only" portion of your package price.

For a "room only" reservation, you can book directly with Disney and receive the discont.

For packages, you must book through AAA.


I don't think there are many discounts offered during Dec., but because you're going early Dec., before the Christmas rush, one may come out.

Last year a code came out and I stayed at AKL standard room for $149/night for 4 nights, then the rate went to $164 for the last 2 nights. This was 12/12 thru 12/18. So yes, it has happened before. I am not a FL resident and do not have an AP - these were public codes.

Yep--I used the code as well. We stayed at the Contemporary for 6 nights and saved over $300 with the code (we did a package deal). Keep an eye out--I think they were released in late summer...I just called when it was released and asked if I could use the code on my reservation and they applied it then and there!

I'm very excited about going in December for the decorations. We've gone in January in the past (as well as a trip this past September...too hot and it was actually very crowded.) In January I was shocked at how empty it was. I'd love to find that in December but I don't think I will. I think lines will be more tolerable with cooler weather.

Yup - mousesavers or here. And early December was fabulous. The weather was a little crazy (40 one day, 85 the next) but the crowds were nice and low and the decorations were beautiful. Enjoy your trip!
