Are The Sales Over?

I went into Kingston this morning hoping for a few bargains but came away empty handed. The sales seem to have been and gone already.

I did succeed in finging DS a pair of shoes at Clarks but they couldn't find the second shoe in the store room (they did offer to phone when they found it but I'm not so desperate to save £20 that I'd do another 14 mile round trip!)

not in Leicester  the bargains are in short supply tho and i can't find a dyson i wanted in stock anywhere !

Oh well, perhaps they didn't even start here either. Lots of duvets and suitcases in BHS (but probably not even reduced but brought in at a special price). No sign of any ex-Christmas stock, gifts, etc.

I used to love going to Birmingham on 1st Jan with my mum - that's when January sales really started in January (I feel, sooooo old!!)

I can't be bothered to battle through the sales, I went to the big Tesco superstore yesterday and honestly there was nothing in there worth having - DH was amazed that I struggled to spend some money! :lmao:

I swear some of the shops dig out sale items that were in the sale years ago and never sold.
Most of the shops just seem to have toot where i am, nothing worth having at all. :sad2:

It's not just me then. I took a shirt back to M&S for my husband and couldn't summon up any enthusiasm for the sale items - it all looked so scruffy and tatty. I ended up just getting a refund and not buying anything at all.

We went to Bluewater yesterday and hardly spent a thing, my girls really wanted some Hollister clothes but they only had a couple of things reduced :sad2:

Apart from Boots, not seen any sales anywhere else in Chatham.

Though Early Learning centre have upto 50% off stuff online, already brought Kyra's main xmas present for next year. Managed to save £50 which i was happy about :)

The sale rails just look like chaos to me. DD managed to get a few bits from New Look and Asda but I was unimpressed and couldn't be bothered to look. I got the Disney Princess annual for £1 for DD's birthday and a Snow White T.shirt for £3 for her too.

I'm not really a girl who likes the sales tbh.

But, we headed off to the Trafford Centre on Sunday and we got a few nice bargins between us both. DBF got two Jasper Conran shirts, which will do nicely for a couple of weddings we have coming up in 2010 and I got the PixarPedia book I'd been after for £12.50 from WH Smith.

I also managed to bring home a Swarovski Eeyore - he was all alone in H Samuels display cabinet looking cute (reduced to £99) and I just couldn't resist those sad Eeyore eyes! ;)

DW & DD when to the Next sale and came away with £1000 worth. :scared1: Thank god most of it will be going back. They couldn't try anything on so bought the things they liked in a couple of sizes. After trying them on and taking away the items they didn't like on, I'm hoping that bill will drop a lot lower.::yes::

Goodness me Tony, it's a wonder you didn't faint when your girls brought that back! :scared1:

Sales aplenty in Glasgow but I HATE sale shopping! I'd rather bypass it all and go to the full price stock. I sometimes feel like asking when I go in "emm excuse me, where's the full price stock?" as some shops seem to just overload on sale stuff and no "normal" stuff, if you get me. Not that I have a problem with getting a bargain I'm just not the type to look for it, well mostly with clothes shopping I mean here, unless it comes and smacks me in the face then I ain't battling to look for it!

Never get anything in the sales, unless you're first in the doors it's all the tat no one actually wants but just buys coz it's got a fiver off, lol.

The most annoying thing is I actually need some new clothes but trying to find them when the shops are like this is a no go! Can't wait for it all to be over!

I went shopping today and thought that the sales were awful. The kids also struggled to spend their xmas money and asked if they could go back when the sales were over

I did some sales shopping online, can't be doing with the being pushed and shoved and paying a fortune to park in town :headache: I much prefer to just be a savvy shopper through the year than go mad at the 'famous' sale times... I totally agree that a lot of it just seems to be old tat that's been festering in a stock room for a year or more!

The retail people are saying there isn't the bargains to be had this year as retailers have not gone overboard with stock like last year. The only thing thats worth getting is big items before the VAT increases. I very rarely go to the sales, mainly because i'm always working.

I haven't been out shopping, TBH I never usually bother as I hate crowds & all the pushing & shoving.

I need to pop into town to change one of my christmas pressies but will go next week when the schools go back. :)

I've managed a few bits but not many real bargains. I agree that you have to be very quick to get the good stuff. I managed to get a Thumper comforter I'd had my eye on for months and a Radley handbag for £35 at Trafford Centre on Monday but that was it from several hours shopping. I got a few good deals at Disney Store online - clothes I'd seen ages ago with big reductions - but that was the morning of xmas eve and already several things were sold out.

It said on the news before Christmas that some shops had reduced their prices early.

I bought two Pandora charms off the Internet in a sale one half price and the other with £15 off which is good for Pandora stuff as you don't really see it reduced.

Also bought some loungewear in the Marks sale which was pretty good. I think the stuff was returns as the proper prices had been teared off .
