Are the rooms at OKW dated?

Hello:

Trying to decide between SSR and OKW for an upcoming stay. The larger rooms and balconies are intriguing but when I look at pictures of OKW, the furnishings and the bed all seem a little tired. What do you guys think?

Also, at OKW, is there a casual place to get a coffee and bagel in the morning?

Thanks!

We are DVC members, we own at SSR. I don't think you would be disappointed with OKW at all. I don't feel that the rooms are dated at all. The rooms are larger so that is nice and the property is very nice being older the trees have grown in and it just has a "community feeling" to it. It truly feels like a home away from home. SSR is equally as nice, the rooms are very nice, although smaller in size, but being so new it still has construction going on. I really don't think you would be disappointed with either one. We LOVE SSR as it is our home resort and usually where we end up staying, however OKW is very nice and the cast there is fantastic.

OKW has Goods To Go, which is by the main pool where you can get a quick cup of coffee and a quick breakfast :) It is a Quick Service location, not a store, just a window. The lunch/dinner menu it basics burgers, chicken, etc... but they have Conch Fritters which are really good.

OKW is the first and only resort we have been to so far. We stayed in a 1 br. It was beyond beautiful and looked as a villa should be in the tropical setting. That is what we loved, we felt like we were in florida. The grounds were beautiful with huge trees, green grass, ferns and flowers everywhere. There was shade from the trees and ducks.

The rooms were huge and nice. The king bed was so comfortable and the lines were also tastefully done. The fabric on the sofa was a bit weird almost to plastic like but it did clean up spills nicely. Having a full kitchen and maid service was perfect for us. The patio was our favorite. I would go out first thing before sunrise and have a cup of coffee while the day started and DH went out at nite for a nitecap.

I could not ask for a better place to stay than OKW :cheer2:

okw is not surpose to look updated and modern.

it's theme is Key West, Florida.

so it looks like their building inside and out.

all dvc resorts are rehab every 5 years.

OKW has changed over the years - small changes - but if you have a viedo/DVD - it has definitely changed.

here are some pictures

It has been awhile since I took pictures inside the room - will try to remember this trip.

ITA.

IMO, OKW is timeless in theme. The whole property has seasoned well.

Great resort! :thumbsup2
