This is the first time that I have ever posted but I have been reading the boards for about a year. I have never needed to ask a question because someone else always asks for me. I need to know if the ribs at Cookies are beef or pork? I do not eat any beef. I understand that they serve chicken? Is this correct? Is it hard to get quick food(like by the pool) that is not beef? Most places have burgers and hotdogs which both are beef. Also what drinks are available at the drink station that are not carbonated and have NO caffeine. I prefer water but how is the taste? I usually drink all bottled spring water. We sail on 5-5-05 on a 3 day Wonder cruise. My mom,my 9 year old neice, and I are going and we have never cruised. I have never even flown. I guess there is a first time for everything. I'm so excited. :Pinkbounc Thank you in advance for any information you can give me.

I have never been...bumping up so someone might see your ? and help out!

I am not sure if the ribs are beef or pork. I didn't actually have any ribs. They did have lobster patties and I am pretty sure they had chicken. I know that by the pool they have chicken fingers that are supposed to be really good. I didn't have those on our 4 day in July, but my DH and DS did and loved them. The water at the drink station was really good. I usually drink bottled water too. They also had lemonade there.
You are going to have so much fun. We went last summer on a "once in a lifetime" trip and now we have a 7 day scheduled for December. We loved it! :flower1:

Just got off the Wonder 3 day on Sunday....

Do not know if they are beef or pork, but I think they are pork and they were delicious!!! Fall off the bone tender. You can always call DCL and ask them or send them an e-mail and they can let you know if they are beef or pork.

The definately have BBQ chicken that was also great as well as hot dogs, burgers, desserts, salads, fresh fruit, ice cream!!!

The drinks were all coke products (soda), though onboard they have fruit punch, so they may have that on the island as well (I just did not see it).

a good way to judge if they are beef ribs is that the beef bones are much bigger then the pork rib bones :)

I called Disney and they can not tell me if the ribs are pork or beef. They are not permitted to give out such information. So I asked about beverages available at CC. I explained my reason for asking is that due to medically problems I can not drink anything carbonated or caffeinated. I was told that I can either drink soda which is free or I can buy fruit juice/ bottled water. She also said that I can get it free on the boat(filtered water, lemonade, fruit punch, juice) on deck 9 which I knew but I can buy it on CC. I don't know if she was having a bad day or what but she was very rude and I expect better of Disney. It was like you are getting it free most of the time so it won't hurt you to buy it that day. :bitelip: Now that I've vented I will try to forget about it and go back to having a good day.

I want to thank everyone for their replies to my questions. The chicken strips by the pool sound like something my family will love including me. At Cookies, the BBQ chicken, salad, fresh fruit, ice cream, and dessert all sound great. I'm sure I will have no trouble finding something to eat. It's finding something to drink that is sometimes more of a battle. With my health problems I just need to prepare a little ahead of time and this will just change the way I pack. I am always way over prepared and I plan for months. I will make sure to bring some water and a large insulated cup that will hold ice that I can take to CC with me. Any other suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks everyone for listening and I'm sorry for complaining.

I'm on the Jan 30 cruise and if I can get myself to remember, I'll try to find out for you!
My DH had no problem with the water but I could tell it was processed.I also cannot drink caffeine . They have decaf tea bags and lemonade and punch.I actually brought my own herbal tea bags .Went up to deck 9 and brewed my own at night.(Also brought my own Splenda)

They have san pellagrino on the boat, but that's carbonated, which won't help you any.
You can always bring something with you,or buy the water package when you board.

Sorry, can't help with the ribs. But I also can't drink soda because of the caffiene and sugar. I know you can have room service bring bottled water to your room but it is expensive. I have also heard of people packing their own drinks in their luggage. I may bring some bottled water with me so I have it on hand.

The fridges in the room don't keep things real cold. But you can order a bucket of ice from room service. I plan on doing this and usuing one of the sinks in the bathroom to put the ice and water bottles in to keep them nice and cold.

You can buy a case of water ( I think it was 24 bottles) for 30.00 as soon as you get into your room from room service.

Thank you for all of your replies. It would be great if someone could check on the ribs and beverages for me. I will definately buy the water if it is not available but when you are on a budget and used to getting a case of spring water for $3.77 then $30.00 sounds very expensive. But hey we're on vacation right. Everything is expensive. :earboy2:

I guess I worry too much but when you are limited it is hard. I have been to amusement parks where the only thing that I could drink would be from one drink station in one corner of the park. That's a long way to walk when you need a drink. I have become overheated at ballgames because all they sold was soda. You would think everywhere would have water but they don't. At one ballgame last summer, I became very dizzy and had to be taken home by friends. The doctor said if I had not gotten water and air conditioning when I did that I would have had a heat stroke. Some people may think that I'm being silly for worrying but when you have experienced it, it is not a trivial matter. Anyway I didn't mean to get on my soap box. It is just frustrating. I know that I am going to go and have a great time and everything will be perfect. It has to be because I've been saving too long for it not to be...lol.

Thanks for all the help that you can give me to ease my fazzled brain.

My local grocery sells single serve packets of crystal light which can be mixed with water to make a 16oz portion (lemonade, punch, etc.). They are very small and portable.

Thanks Tammy thats a good idea onboard if I don't like the taste of the filtered water but on CC filtered water is not available. I actually prefer plain water and if I have to buy it I will drink it plain. It's also much better in preventing heat emergencies than soda, juice, crystal light. The body can not absorb the liquid with the additives like it can the water. Onboard It would be different because there are other ways to cool off. I will definately go to Wal-Mart and purchase some for the trip.

They had fruit punch at the Adult Beach beverage station.. that minutemaid fruit punch...so I would assume Cookies has the same.

I would suspect beef ribs, I am not positive though, but they had grilled fish, lobster patties, and chicken.

DCL is very good about accomidating any dietary needs. Sorry the phone agent wasn't very pleasant. I have always had a great experience with the phone cast members. Unfortunately there is sometimes a bad seed, it's just a shame that was the impression you had of the phone service. Normally they are excellent!

Shelley, thanks for letting me know about the punch. I drink that brand at the mall sometimes so I know it doesn't bother me. The fish and Chicken sound good also.

Chris, it's good to definately know that they are beef so I will know to avoid them. Thank you for taking the time to let me know.

Do either of you or anyone else reading this remember if there is filtered water in the machine at Cookies? I have decided that I can take an insulated cup and get ice there at Cookies. I just need to know whether I will have to buy/take bottled water onto CC or if it is in the drink station. I can get ice at Cookies, can't I? I hope so.

The lobster burgers are a combination of lobster and shrimp, no chicken.

Thanks for replying about the ribs. We are the opposite...we don't eat pork at all, so my son the carnivore will be happy to know he can eat all the ribs he wants!

I wonder why DCL can't give that info over the phone??

My DD drinks nothing but water so I know it is readily available on CC. They have a couple stations with huge coolers filled with water in different areas around the beach and I was able to get water for my DD at the drink station. Also, before the drink stations at CC I would ask at the bars for a glass of water for her and there was never a problem. They also usually have someone selling bottled water and straps to hold them at all ports and at CC they offer a nice cooler filled with ice and water for you to purchase.

la37, when I've gone in the past I've had the mugs so I've simply asked the cast member servers for ice with lemon and they're more than happy to bring it. I didn't notice a taste but then again, we're able to drink our water from the tap and it's town/city water. This year I won't have a mug but I'll still ask a server or the bar keep. Too much soda in the heat is not a good thing for anyone, even caffeine-free. :)
