I was wondering if you got the tickets, then the room is it more than just doing a package??

Denise

The new My Way packages do give you a small break on the room cost. So it would be cheaper than paying rack rate and buying tickets separately. However, the packages are a much better deal if you can find a discount to use. Our dreams unlimited agent was able to book our package with a discount so it worked out to be almost as low as an code room-only rate. :cool1:

Could you tell me more about your Dreams My Way plan?? What is that?? So is it cheaper to book a vacation through a travel agency. Years ago....we did this with our first two trips.....got great deals..but after that...we started getting military discounts. Would love any insight into trip planning using vacation packages.

Thanks

Denise

Actually I meant to ask...WHAT IS THE DREAMS UNLIMITED AGENT??

Years ago we found that it was cheaper to book the room and the tickets seperate due the "extras" that they included in the pakages that we did not use. With the changes they have made we are going to check out the packages on the next trip.

Sue Ellen is our Dreams Unlimited agent. She is really good at finding discounts and low rates. She saved us about $1000 off the quote we got from Disney. :) We did the package with hotel, park tickets, and dining. This will be our first time going to WDW with a package, so it will be interesting to see the difference it makes.

We found the package to be more expensive. We condidered doing it because the meal plan is a great deal, especially if you are planning to eat at sit-down full service restaurants and character meals a lot. We have chosen to do the room only and forget the meal plan because although the meals are an awesome deal, I would much rather pay $79 a night for my mod room with a room code, than to pay $140 a night for a room just to add the meals on. We have 2 rooms - so we are saving $60 a night for 7 nights - $840 savings on the rooms - I think I can afford to spend the difference on meals for that.

Too bad they will not let you use a room code for a room on a package. Ridiculous. Guess they have to make up the $$$ for the meal savings somewhere.

There are discounts you can use on the packages... you just can't use the "room only" discounts.

I am hoping for one of those package discount codes, I'd love to add the meal plan on but like bytheblood said, it wouldn't be worth it to pay MORE for the room.

If room only rates don't come out soon and aren't great I will switch to the package w/dining for our upcoming trip!

To answer the original question, room only discounts do seem to be more common so booking separate would save you money in that case but good packages can be found (we did the 7 nights for the price of 4 in 2003, a good package deal!!).

Several people have posted that they have been able to add the dining package to an email or postcard room code. IF three letter room codes are released later, I'm sure there will be a matching four letter code that can be used for dining.
