Are the Minnie Vans at every resort?

They told us this morning, 7 resorts.

Though, once the Minnie Van code is activated in the Lyft app, it's good everywhere on property.

I read in another thread where the hotel bell cast can activate the app for you.

Lyft sent me an email upon checking into a Deluxe resort. My wife, she just walked up to a driver and had her activate her phone for a return marathon visit at a moderate resort.

We've taken regular Mears taxis today and yesterday and only once did the cost come anywhere close to the price of the Minnie van. Even with a tip the Mears taxis were all less than $20.

If you have access to Minnie Vans on the Lyft app (either activated through a current or previous stay at an eligible resort), then yes. If not, then no.

Yes, Uber and Lyft cars are quite abundant on property.

I must have missed something along the way. I thought if you were staying on property, you could use the Minnie Vans for a $20 fee per trip. This is a bummer since we plan to spend as much time as possible in the MK before out flight leaves. I was planning to have the MV pick us up at the MK & bring us back to Pop Century before we catch the Magical Express back to the airport to leave for home. Well, you know what they say, man plans & God laughs!!
I do not have any experience with Uber or Lyft, so if anyone is willing to share what they know about using these services at WDW, I'm listening

Uber and Lyft are not able to pick up or drop off at MK. You'll have to walk to The Contemporary and get picked up there. Or take the monorail or boat to the Ticket and Transportation Center and get picked up there.

I've read (but haven't tried it) that even if you are staying at a resort without Minnie Vans, you can take your phone to bell services at a resort with the Minnie Vans (like Wilderness Lodge), and they can activate the service for you even if you are not staying at that resort.

Using Uber/Lyft at Disney is pretty straightforward. You put the app on your phone and just request a ride. We've never waited more than a few minutes and have almost always found it very convenient when we don't want to wait for a bus. The big exception for us was once several years ago when Uber was first driving around, we used it at Disney with a bad experience...the driver didn't know where he was going, got lost, and it took nearly 45 minutes to go from AKL to GF. Actually he was so lost he dropped us at Poly by mistake. We decided to just get out and monorail it to the GF as we were rather carsick at that point. LOL. I asked him if we were at the Polynesian, and he said yes. My DD said, "but that's not our resort," and I quickly said, "oh, but it is, it just looks different at night!" before he realized he'd made a mistake and taken us to the wrong resort. LOL. We were hesitant to use Uber at Disney for a long time after that, but in the past 2 years we've given it another try with much better results!

The two big differences between Minnie Van and standard Lyft that I can think of right now (other than the appearance of the Minnie Vans, lol) are that the Minnie Van has car seats so if you have kids that age, it's a big deal. The other is that Minnie Van is the only type of transportation (other than a Disney bus) that can drop you right at the MK. All other Uber, Lyft, taxis, etc have to drop people at the TTC (so you're a monorail or boat ride away).

ok so we are resort hopping the first morning, and a few days later I would like a Minnie van for my bday to make sure we get to Ohana on time. Can I set the Minnie van up on lyft while I am resort hopping then?

Lyft and Uber, in my experience, are consistently in the $8-$12 range (plus tip) anywhere around Disney World. The Minnie Vans are $20 (drivers cannot accept tips). We use Lyft/Uber at least once or twice every trip and find it really useful since we don't rent a car. I've never experienced a long wait for Uber/Lyft. Cars are, in my experience, always driving around and can pick up. Some people have reported a shortage of Minnie Vans - they try to select one in the app, and there's nothing available. So while it's great in theory, it sounds like a rather unreliable form of transportation to me.

From what I've read here, yes, you should be able to take your phone to bell services at a participating resort and have them activate it. Perhaps someone who has done this can confirm this can be done? I would have a backup form of transportation to the Poly in place. There have been several reports of shortages of Minnie Vans. People try to request them, and they discover there is a very long wait or nothing available at all. So perhaps a regular Lyft would work as a backup plan if needed.

Last I checked Minnie Vans are available at the following resorts: AK, BW, GF, Poly, WL, YC and BC. On our last trip, we used Uber in the AM one day and it was $7.36, but at park closing it was $17.40, so $20 is not too bad. Also, I believe the vans hold 6 passengers, standard Uber is only good for 4.
