Are the magic bands removable?

When we are in the park, my DH often runs for the fast passes with all our cards while we eat lunch or just walk too slow for his taste. Can we take them off so he can use them to get passes?

They are removable, but if you are using the Magic Bands for Fast Passes that's Fast Pass Plus and it's all done online or on the phone app, not at a machine.

Removable? Yep.

You can't give them to your DH to go get FPs though. The FP+ reservations are all online and made online either through your smartphone and the app or via kiosk in the park. You CAN have your DH go to one of the very few kiosks located in the park to schedule a FP+...if any are still left.

I think we all know that she meant regular (Legacy) fast pass. ;)

Since you can't use magic bands to pull paper fastpasses I don't see why anyone would have assumed those are what she meant.

I misread what she put. :scared: Sorry!

I thought she was asking if her DH could take them off to get FPs, as in hiding them so that the CMs would not see.

I think we all know that she meant regular (Legacy) fast pass. ;)

Then if she is talking about legacy fast past, why are we telling her "yes, the bands are removable" ? She cannot send her husband ahead of the family to get a legacy fast pass with the bands so what does it matter if they are removable or not.

OP, yes the bands are removable however you will not use the BANDS to get fast passes from the machines like you used to. You will reserve them in advance on the MDE website or app. These are now called "Fast Pass Plus" or FP+. If you have a KTTW card or hard ticket, you can send those along with your husband and he may be able to get "regular" fast passes with them (depending on whether they are still available or not to MB users)

I answered the question that yes they are removable.

For the purposes that I read into her story (wrongly I might add thinking she was putting the MBs away in order to get FPs), they are removable is an ok answer.

But yes you are right, she will need a KTTW card in order to pull FP-s if they are still available to MB holders when she goes.

Yeah that's what I was wondering cause he wouldn't scanning for fp?

Now I am confused. I am not sure why I would want to hide them from the CMs so I don't know what that was about.

I was told that I could have fastpass+ and still get regular fastpasses as long as they don't overlap. So do I have to have a card then instead of a magic band?
Should I bother getting magic bands?

We are from Canada and so we usually don't have our cell phones with us but if we need to add passes as the day goes on I guess we will need them so that is a consideration.

We usually like to grab fast passes on the go so we can adapt our plans to park traffic.

I hope that isn't more confusing. I guess I need to decide if the new bands and fastpasses are worth the trouble. Any opinions?

I was told by the CM on the phone today that we could have both at the same time but I realize that may change in time. I know that the FP+ are on the MB but since it replaces my ticket and does the things tickets do I wrongly assumed that it could be used for Legacy FPs.

Some have reported being turned away from FP- machines by some cast members when wearing magicbands so that could be a reason for removing them.
MBs are not used to pull FP-. Key to the World cards or AP cards are. T

When I was there 2 weeks ago, you could still get regular FPs from the machines even with a MB. This changes on a day to day basis depending on who you talk to. I would ask at checkin for KTTW cards and ask them if you are still able to pull FPs with those cards in addition to your FP+ on your bands.

You can schedule your FP+ ahead of time, so you wouldn't necessarily need your phone. However if you wanted to change a time/experience, you would need your phone, or have to go to one of the kiosks in the park to do it. You can't add more FPs with your phone. You get three and three only. Additional FPs would be pulled with your KTTW card at regular FP machines (if still allowed).

Grabbing FPs "on the go" is what most people are upset about. That is becoming limited on certain rides because the return times, now, are so far out. If you're getting MBs, I suggest scheduling some rides. If you can make them, great! If not, try to reschedule them or just let them go.

Yes. You will get a KTTW card at check in as a back up to your Magic Band. If you would like to pull regular FPs you will use the card. You can also have 3 FP+ selections booked in advance.

We loved them. They were so convenient. We used them as room keys, for park entry and FP+ redemption and for meal/merchandise purchases. You will automatically get a set with your resort reservation. It is up to you if you want to use them or go with the KTTW cards instead.

You can't add FP+s with the current testing system, but you can change them. You do not need a cell phone. You can simply go to one of the in-park kiosks to make the changes.

We usually like to grab fast passes on the go so we can adapt our plans to park traffic.

You can still do this with your KTTW card...at least right now. Eventually the FP machines will be going away, but right now you can use them for additional FPs.

Again, we loved the whole system. We scheduled FP+s for later in the day and used the Legacy (paper) FP system in the morning. We only pulled one or two FPs though, as the crowds were very light.

There really is no reason not to get bands and make FP+ selections. Opting out doe not give you any benefit over opting in.

Nothing is on the MB. Everything is linked to your MDEx account. The bands simply have a chip that reads you account in Disney's database. Anything linked to your account (resort stay, FP+ selections, park tickets) is accessible by the band.

Hope that helps. Have a great trip!

The KTTW cards do not need to be activated at the park entrance though, do they? You just use the band for entrance?
