Are the Kittens Democrat or Republican?

There was a man walking along the street in town. He saw a little girl with a basket of kittens so he walked over, looked at the cute little kittens and asked the little girl, "what kind of kittens are they?"

She replied, "they're democrat."

He didn't really know what to say to that, so he just smiled and went on his way.

A couple weeks later he was again in town, and again he saw the same little girl with the same basket of kittens. He walked up to her and asked "what kind of kittens did you say they were?"

She replied, "they're republican."

He looked at her, with a puzzled expression on his face and said, "but didn't you say they were democrat the last time?"

She said, "yes, but now their eyes are open."

Cute. Ds's teacher emailed me to say they had gotten two
kittens. They named them Franklin and Eleanor in hopes of
bringing election luck. We dems will try just about anything!

Ok...so jokes like this drive me crazy...not because it's political, but because there is no reason why the man should have asked her the same question twice when he already knew the answer. Right? Maybe I'm just way too logical...
