Are the coasters smooth?

I've only ridden 7DMT and BTMRR and didn't have any issues with those (although of course those are considered "baby" coasters by most I guess). I'm kind of a baby when it comes to roller coasters but I'm game for trying most things once and was hoping to try another one or two this time. I don't like the really rough ones though (like the wooden ones at Six Flags)--anything that feels like it's coming off the track is an absolute no-go for me. I was hoping to maybe ride Everest or RnR this time--would either of those be a good one to try? I rode Space Mountain a long time ago but I don't really remember much about it.

space is not smooth but mount everest and rockin rollercoaster are thats my opinion anyway

Smoothest coaster at WDW is Expedition Everest.

Roughest is Space Mtn.

While RnRC has a smooth track, there are a couple of places where the cars whip quickly from one side to another and you can bang your head on the shoulder harness at those points.

Agreed. Everest, while a very wild ride, was smooth. I got off Space Mountain and my lower back was all messed up for good 4 hours. Also, with every bump - and there were a lot of them, I came out of the seat.

We should mention Primeval Whirl at Dinoland at DAK.

It is a "coaster" of sorts, and is very, very "unstable, loose and spinny" feeling.
(Lots of whipping around with quick dips.)

Many call it "Primeval Hurl" due to the uneasy feeling many get in their stomachs.

EE is smooth?

I suppose after the Yeti rips out the track, it's a smooth fall backwards...but the sudden stop at the bottom kinda gets you

Wooden coasters often make my back hurt so much that I will cry "Owww!!!" out loud when I they hit a bump, but no Disney coaster has hurt my back to any degree.

There is 1 spot in space mountain that if your in the middle seat will jerk your back pretty good. (my daughter loves this ride so been on it enough to know each seat). There is somethign similar on BTMRR when it does that sudden drop but space your heading up when it makes the shift really fast.

The rest of the rides I would say are really smooth with the exception of dinosaur but that's not a coaster.

I will no longer ride on Space Mountain because it is so jerky. I also won't do Primeval Whirl. The rest are all fine though!

Edited to add: It's really sad about Space Mountain. The one at Disneyland is extremely smooth. In fact, its my favorite ride at Disneyland. So...Disney could make it a better ride if they choose to.

My thoughts on roller coasters? I am NOT comfortable once we get out of a comfortable "thudding" range. Which means, you can fall out of the vehicle and thud comfortably. So, I don't like Space Mountain because I can't see where the thuddable range is. Expedition Everest does have that long climb up but it's not just for a short ride down and I don't realize I'm well up in the air since I'm inside with lights and action going on and don't see it. Rock N Roller Coaster just blasts off so, while it's in the dark, I don't have a sense of ever being out of a thuddable range.

Primeval Whirl? Well, let's just say that when we took our granddaughter on this, she laughed at me because I was, er, um, scared out of my wits? I could see how far up we were the entire freaking time.

BTMRR is not smooth IMHO. EE on the other hand is except for the initial backwards part at the top of the hill. Have fun!

No way BTMRR is smooth. It is fun tho! 7D and Everest are allmmmost smooth, in their track team.BUT going up the hills when they "catch" they tend to really whip bad. So now I can't recommend them for neck problem people either.

And Space. Nope.nope never. You need extra support for the ladies on that very whippy fast and fun but BRUTAL ride. I love it, but I haven't had it in me to ride it more than twice in a row. I'm done. I go back and forth as to whether I should flop like a fish or try to brace myself...

Space Mountain is the only one that "hurts", but I still LOVE it!

I also really try to keep my head in place on RnR, so my neck sometimes ends up hurting because of that.

Space Mountain and Goofy's baby one are the only two that I think are rough, although I did bruise or crack my rib on BTMRR last time I was there! It hurt for 6 months. That ride whips you around but it's not rough, same with Primeval Whirl. Like you, OP, I hate the feeling of wooden coasters. Space and Goofy are the only two that are similar to that, IMHO.

LOL yes the "thudding" range, exactly! All I can think about is "if I fell off at this point, would I go splat?" haha!!

Yeah I really didn't care for the Barnstormer, but at least it was short. I do remember being slung around a bit on BTMRR, but I can handle that. It's more the "OMG, the freaking car just came off the track" thing I can't handle. We rode one at a local amusement park the other day and it was one of the wooden ones that's so rough that when you come down a hill the car literally is airborne for a second. Can't deal with that. It was the same issue I had with the Scream Machine at Six Flags. My daughter and I both found it terrifying, and not in the "oh that was fun" way.

Everest and RnR are both smooth, so I think you'd be okay.

Space is quite rough, IMO - and because you're in the dark and can't anticipate the twists and turns, I always feel like I'm being jerked back and forth. In contrast, RnR is in the dark but is super smooth. Just be sure to hold your head back against the headrest during the launch (it's a zero-to-60mph "catapult" launch - very cool!). I won't go on Space because of the jerkiness, but love EE and RnR (and BTMrr)! Have fun!

but Everest is one I will never feel the need to ride again.....it may be smooth in parts, but the backwards part makes me queasy....
