Are the cabins a good choice?

Just adding to everyone else's comments....FW is a wonderful place to stay! I've done both the cabins and the camp ground. The cabins are spacious, clean and peaceful. As nice as the resorts are (I'm a DVC member, too), I love FW. It offers the peace adults look for on a vacation, in contrast to the hustle of the parks. IMHO, one of the perks of a cabin is everyone can sleep as late as they want, while everyone who wakes can sit on the deck, enjoying the morning. The kids can unwind/horse around right outside the cabin....can't do that in a hotel room. I know people who go to FW just to stay in the campground and never go to the parks! Rest easy, enjoy!!

This is exactly what we're doing and leaving this Thursday! Our passes are blacked out right now but we thought we'd still have a great time camping!
