We are staying at the Yacht club next week for a couple of days and doing Hollywood studios one of the days.
When I initially booked it, it looked like the best / fastest way to get from yacht
Club to Hollywood Studios was by boat. (faster than walking).
My son just found some posts that seem to suggest that the boat is only running to Magic Kingdom (?).
Can anyone confirm that (1) the boat is the best way to get from Yacht Club to HS and (2) whether or not the boat is currently running?
thx in advance.

Yes. We used the boat in May to go to Epcot several times.

The boats in Crescent Lake are running. The boat to DHS will stop at Swan/Dolphin before going to DHS.

Unless you have mobility concerns, walking from YC to DHS is usually going to be faster than the boat and is the “easiest” option since you have total control over the timing.

The first boat starts running around an hour before park opening.

We like to walk in the AM and then either take the boat or Skyliner back (although prefer Skyliner).

We stayed at Yacht Club mid-May. Boat were running, but as mentioned a few posts up, we walked to HS for Rope Drop since we didn't want to risk not being in the park as early as possible. We definitely got there before the boat arrived. We weren't hoofing it either, a nice casual morning stroll. Got to see some of the Boardwalk too.

What your son read was a post about the resort boats to Magic Kingdom, which refers to the MK resort area boats - CR, WL, FW, GF and Poly. There was a resort boat that traveled between Contemporary, Wilderness Lodge and Fort Wilderness that has been suspended. I believe the post may have referred to this boat route. :)

Thx. Super helpful. Apx how long is the walk?

Depends on how fast your group walks. Average is about 20 minutes. We used to do it in 15- 20, but we‘re in our mid 60s now & live a pretty sedentary life style. So our pace has slowed, unless we’re trying to keep up with our DIL’s long legs, lol. The last few times took us 20-25. But I bet @GADisneyDad14 can get there in 15. :thumbsup2

My family took the friendship boats to /from HS and Epcot throughout our trip (7/3-7/9). Our traveling pace is leisure so we were never in a rush to go anywhere. The boat ride was very relaxing and convenient. It also sheltered us from the sudden FL summer storm a couple times.

We are not speed walkers and we get there in less than 15 min. Family of 4 with preteen/teenage kids. As GADisneyDad14 mentioned, walking is almost always faster unless you have mobility issues. Plus if you have to wait on the boat, you'll waste an easy 30 min getting to DHS. But if you aren't concerned with park arrival time and looking to enjoy your time, the boat is a nice transport option, very relaxing.
