Are the beignets at POFQ really that good?

Ok, now since I am convinced. About trying these. What is the fastest way to get these coming from, MGM, or Animal kingdom? I wont have a car, so it will have to be disney transportation? TIA :goodvibes

Anyone know, thanks!

We stayed at POFQ in July. Before we went, I was sure I was going to try the beignets, but the thought of eating something deep-fried for breakfast just got to me, so I never ordered them. I guess the Food Police have infiltrated too deeply into my mind. :guilty:

If you've ever had them in New Orleans, then you will probably be disappointed with them. They are full of air and chewy, unlike any beignet I've ever had.

Having had the real thing at Cafe du Monde on many, many occasions, I was a little disappointed in the ones at POFQ. They were chewy. I think they kneaded the dough to long. I still ate them but they were not as good.

I agree except I didn't eat all of mine from POFQ. Nothing can compare to Cafe Du Monde.

We think the beignets are great!! but you have to get them first thing in the morning/when they are fresh. after sitting around for awhile they lose something.like any pastry..the fresher the better:)

I couldn't wait to try them on my first trip to POFQ in May but I wasn't crazy about them and I kept thinking what a mess it would be if my kids tried eating them.

That was EXACTLY what I was going to say. They aren't bad, but they aren't Cafe Du Monde..........

Yep - If you're used to Cafe DuMonde, you'll be disappointed. But, for this Yankee Girl who hasn't been to NOLA in awhile, they were enough to bring back some great memories.

I've been to New Orleans a few times. I've had Cafe Du Monde beignets. I stayed at Port Orleans. I had their beignets. After one bite, I fed them to the boy. It was either that or throw them in the trash. There is NO WAY I would drive out of my way for these beignets. I would rather drive to New Orleans.

In the paraphrased immortal words of food God Alton Brown - these are NOT "Good Eats".

It depends. Sometimes they are too full of air, and too well-done. Other times they have more substance inside and aren't as chewy. I like them, but they aren't to die for. My dh likes them more than I do.
