Are the $59 Southwest fares a joke?

Seems like they fares are only available 20 days or less out, fly at horrible times of the day, and zig zag all over the country on connections before you make it to your final destination!

I would not be surprise if you have to fly with livestock to get those fares and fly direct someplace.

I've actually flown NON-STOP from Providence to MCO 3x with SWA for $49each way!

Not a joke, you just have to have the right timing to make them work for you.

Good Luck

I have flown $49 each way ISP (Long Island, NY) to MCO twice. The cheap fares really do go fast, though. You have to check every day. Good luck!

My hubby and and some friends were able to book a $56 each way direct flight from B'ham to Orlando in July. The flights are at great times and are on a Thursday.

This was through a Ding! alert.

Not at all! Depending on where you live, you can actually get them cheaper than that even. The key is planning your trip by the fares, not planning the dates, then looking for fares.

Have you used the Southwest Shortcut to find low fares? It's makes finding them quite a bit simpler. Also try downloading their DING! program.

I just found $49 fares from philly direct for flights in May...

Some friends of mine got a "ding" rate from IND to MCO for Aug.8-14, 2005 for a total fare of $82.11 r/t. This includes everything. It is a n/s flight.

We flew from New Orleans to Orlando (about 10 to 12 hr drive) for $39 each way last May 2004.

We are flying again for $39 each way this June 2005. The times are a little inconvenient for us....but, who cares. We are actually getting more time in the parks because we are flying out at 6:45am arriving MCO at 9:15am and on the trip back we depart MCO at 9:45pm....2 extra partial days....woohoo!!

I've got $49 each way N/S from Baltimore to MCO in May. I have gotten $49-$59 each way on several flights over the last few years, but BWI is a major hub for Southwest, which is why there are plenty of N/S flights at cheap rates to MCO.

Sign up for SWAs emails and check back any time they announce "Systemwide Savings."

We've gotten several $109 Chicago to Orlando roundtrips at decent times, and always non-stop. The prices are winning me over to SW; for the fares they've been offering lately, the non-assigned seats are becoming a lot more palatable.

Unless it's a last minute trip, I've always been able to get $49 or $59 each way for a non-stop flight MHT/MCO at times that work great for me. I've had a few last minute trips, one over Thanksgiving, and another just a few months ago that were a bit more expensive. But still very competitive, and non-stop. Not to mention, had my flight prices gone down, Southwest is great about crediting the difference, or changing to a cheaper flight.

I got $39 each way in Jan. out of BWI, my 1st time flying SW...great flight times, non stop, no complaints. I just booked a Ding! for $64 each way in July, again, great flight times, ect... and I'll keep an eye out to see if it lowers and I'll rebook and have a future credit to use. I love SW!

We have flown SW on our last 2 trips to WDW. $59.00 each way per person, bought the tickets several months in advance, departed Indy in the early am going down, and left Orlando in the early pm coming back, exactly what we wanted. Just keep checking. :earsboy:

You definitely have to do some searching and be a bit flexible, but I have always found good fares on SW. Lately, though, I've been getting $49 fares on Song too... which eliminates the 'cattle call' (which I really don't mind- I'm always first in line), and Song has TV's in each seat... not sure if they fly to Akron yet.

My cousin got a Direct flight back in March from Phila Int'l to Mco for 4 people $434 and some change! On SWA! I was soooo JEALOUS!!! We are going in the END of October thru November! And I'm hoping I get those fares! I was going to Fly Spirit as we always have and I checked there fares! OH MY! You wanna talk about give me a HEART ATTACK!! $500 something round trip! That's ridiculous! I'll drive 14 hours first!
