I work in a national reservation center for Marriott's competitor hotel chain, think of the skinny blonde
and we have different rates for federal and state govt. employees. There are some hotels in our system that do not allow teachers to qualify for the state rates, but those are few and far between. As far as travel having to be business related, I was trained that unless the hotel is specifically stating that they need to see travel orders, as long as the guest has a govt. ID, they are entitled to the govt. rates. No matter what, when you call in to make a reservation ask them if you qualify for a govt. rate and tell them what you do. The more information I get from a guest, the easier it is for me to get them the best rate that they quailfy for
