Are standard rooms at WL noisy?

Can you hear lobby noise in the standard view rooms at WL. Are there any Standard view rooms that do not open to the lobby?

I never stayed there, But I also wondered if the rooms facing the lobby were noisy.

All I can say from past experience is be finished with your nap by 5:00pm or the whispering canyons Kepchup calls will finish you nap for you. Not extremely loud but enough to start waking you up. Ou stay was 2nd floor directly across from the restaurant.

We stayed in a room on the MK side of the WL with a door that opened onto the lobby. Personally, I thought it was the best room possible. We had a view of the castle, Wishes, Space Mountain on one side and were part of the beautiful lobby on the other.

As far as noise goes, I didn't find it bad at all. The mornings we were still in the room late enough, we could hear the noises from the Whispering Canyon Cafe. Since we were on the 6th floor, it seemed distant and somehow just part of the atmosphere.

If you like to sleep in and require absolute quiet, I guess it could be a problem.

Actually, we don't like to sleep in. We are more concerned about the evening. Our kids are fairly young and we are generally back to the room between 9:00 and 10:00pm. I'm more concerned about the noise in the late evening

Does it make sense to request a room on an upper floor?

We stayed in a room right across from the restaurant a couple of years ago. I didn't find it too noisy at all. Also the restaurant was just about empty by 10:00 at night.

During our last visit we had a standard room and didn't hear any noise. However, we went to bed late and woke up early each day. The onsite dining is very noisy (fun), so if you sleep in or go to bed early you may be able to hear it???

You never know about noise at WDW resorts.

Magical adventures are happening all the time .....

We stayed at the Contemporary in the tower ($$$) - on the Chef Mickey's side (I think we were floor 6 - at least 2 floors above Chef Mickey's). If you were in our bathroom, you could hear the Chef Mickey song every 20 minutes in the morning and evening when they were open.

At least we knew other guests were having a great meal with characters and enjoying their magical vacation.

We do character meals, get up for early entries in the Parks, use the pool and boats, mini golf, horse back riding, etc ....
We have never had a problem sleeping after a day of play at WDW.

Everyone is different so I think the question is hard to answer.

For those that are light sleepers, it's possible that a standard view room will be a little noisy. I've been in them and to be quite honest, rarely ever heard a thing. I recommend that those that are sensitive to noise just turn the TV on with low volume or use the clock radio for some alternate noise. It's really not that bad. Standard views are not just lobby rooms either. Ask for a woods view if you really want the quietest room.
