Are room reservations getting cancelled by Disney?

Read it in another post but it seems hard to believe. Maybe Disney doesn't want the responsibility of people evacuating to their resorts?????

Best source is WDW. Call them and ask. Information is flying fast and furious with the hurricane.

WDW is looking at the situation and will be making plans. But only they know at this point.

I just called a few hours ago and they didn't say anything of that sort. Actually we are coming in on Friday instead of Saturday and I added a day on the ressie. I would call and check if you are concerned.

No, Disney is not cancelling reservations. Unless, of course, you call and say "I want to cancel my reservation." Disney is sold out across property for this weekend, but if you cannot make it due to Hurricane Frances there is no cancellation penalty.
Disney *may* cancel your reservation if you are not guaranteed. I.E. you do not have a deposit or credit card on file. Sometimes people call up and say, "I want a room tonight, Ill check be there in a hour" and don't hold there spot with a credit card #. If someone shows up at the resort without a reservation but is ready and willing to pay - then they will cancel that not guaranteed reservation and give it to the next person. Does that make sense?

Disney's Vero Beach is Cancelling reservations.

They aren't cancelling any but they aren't accepting any news ones for the weekend.

The rooms that are left are for those evacuated from Vero and the rest is for cast members needing rooms.

I was told that Disney is one of the shelter areas with selected areas putting up people on cots for free. CM's were given half off for a room.I suspect that non-cm's evacuating from other parts of the state will pay at least the current season Florida annual pass rate if not rack rate to have a room.

Thats what I said last time, however I got the scoop from a CM here at the BCV.

The Yacht Club Convention center is now set up as an evacuation shelter for CMs and their families. Those CMs on duty can bring their families to the center so that they are close by and cared for. Meals are running there around the clock as is childcare inside.

If the family prefers to rent a room, they are given half off.

Since all Disney resorts are booked and there is no room at the inn, if you are supposed to come down this weekend, I suggest cancelling your weekend ressies to free up the room and book the rest of the week. Call WDWInfo and let them know you are coming in on Monday tues, etc instead of Saturday so the room can be used by someone who is stuck here and needs someplace safe to stay.

CM's can usually get 50% without a storm if there is availability.
