Plan on doing shopping before checking into villa are their prices for groceries good?

While I don't have any experience shopping elsewhere in that area, I have found the prices at Publix to be equivalent overall to the prices in my hometown. The good thing about that store is you don't need a special card to get any of the sale prices. They have a decent variety of foods. I have shopped there for the last 3 visits to Disney.

Publix is one of the larger chain supermarkets in Florida, along with Albertsons (but there you need to register for a shoppers card to get the best discounts), there is also Super Walmart and Super Targets near Disney too. I would chose to shop in a store that is similar to where you shop at home. They all have websites that can answer any questions you have too. I liked Publix and Albertsons and used to shop at both when I lived near Clearwarter. During my last trip to WDW, I stopped at Albertsons, and got a shoppers card, and did all my shopping (with a good list) in my 20 minute stop with Happy Limo.

Hope this helps. :D

We have shopped at Publix and Winn-Dixie. Pretty similar to what I pay at home for groceries, except meat and milk higher. I read somewhere that locals think the WD is the least expensive grocery store. Not sure if includes the big Superstores. I doubt it.

I like them both, but will go to WD next week because it's within walkking distance of where I'm staying, Cypress Pointe.

You can't go wrong with either. Goodings is the skyhigh store.

herc.

We had a grocery stop at Publix before and its a lot like our prices here at home. Some things are a good deal and some others not so good but we were satisified with the overall pricing.

I also find Publix pretty comparable to prices at home except, as mentioned above, milk seems very high in Florida. I've found the best prices on milk at Sams if you are a member.

We have a Publix & WD within 3 minutes of our house. We go to WD for the special BOGO offers with the shoppers card. For everything else, we go to Publix. We like the selection at Publix better than WD. They also have BOGO offers that don't require a card. Once a week or every couple weeks, DH goes to Super Walmart to buy meat, etc. It's about 10 minutes away, and we think that's too far to go to often. :earboy2: The two we never go to are Kash & Karry, and Albertson's. We think both of those stores are very expensive, with the exception of the specials with the card. If you can get to a Super Walmart, you will definitely save more there. Next choice Publix! Have a great trip! :)

Publix is a little more expensive here. That is probably because all the tourists go there. (It's a little closer to the beach) Walmart and Winn-Dixie have better prices.

publis has the best deli of them all.........albertson is way too overpriced but cheaper than disney for sure...........super walmart is very close and very cheap...........remember everything is relative.........i would not waste time saving 50 bucks if it takes too much time away from your trip..........publix is right outside the gate so it is convienent............you could even walk there is your staying close to DD. Apply for the shopping card ASAP and you'll save more...........i think you can do it online
