Are PS reservations necessary?

We will be at the world for 9 days in Nov. We don't plan to do any character meals but would like to try some other restaurants. We would like to go to Whispering Canyon, Sci-fi, Planet hollywood in DTD and places like that. Is it necessary to make reservations at the 90 day mark or could I just make them when we get there when we develop more of a plan. I just hate to be on a schedule with the dinner reservations. We often eat supper late after parks close and would hate to end our park day to make a meal reservation. Also we are staying the first night offsite as we will be arriving late in the day could we eat at Whispering Canyon on that night? Does anyone know how late these places are open? Thanks for all your help, the people on this board are great!

I would make a couple of PSs just to be on the safe side - particularly for the places you really want to eat. We went there last year at this time and are doing it again this year. We were really glad that we had reservations a couple of time. Didn't expect a crowd for Ohana's. The menus along with how late things are open can be found at allearsnet.com

When in November are you going? If you're going around Thanksgiving, it'll be super-crowded and I would suggest making the PSs. Also, the hours for many restaurants change depending on when you're going. You can find info on hours, crowd levels, etc. at www.allearsnet.com. It's a great resource. If you find out what the park hours will be when you're there, then you can make the PS around that.

Also - if you are making a PS (not a reservation with your credit card, which they require for a few special events or big groups) and you miss it, it's not that big a deal (altho they appreciate it if you call and let them know you are not coming.) So you could make a few PSs and then cancel them during the day if your plans change.

Hope that helps!:wave2:

I would recommend making them at the places you would really like to eat at. Just to be safe.

We only make PSs if we have a specific meal we want to have at a specific time. Our last trip was in June - I made all while we were there, all except one ('Ohana for a group of 8-did that 3 days in advance) was made the same day as the meal, most dinner ones I made during our afternoon break just before heading back into a park. The only place we tried to go to that we didn't want to wait to get in was the Cape May Clam Bake, it was on Friday night and we got there about 7:30 - it would have been about an hour wait. We decided to go someplace else instead.

some places ( Kona for breakfast , Ohana for dinner) definetly make them since in Jan( less busy than Nov) we needed them and even with them the wait was close to an 1/2 an hr at Kona& they were turning people away with out ps at Ohana by 6:30pm cause they had over an hr wait with ps, longer without (like maybe 2 hrs) and were not allowing anyone with out ressies to sign up.( the manager said they are always booked like that at all times of the year) other places (scifi) we waited forever with ps and they were not busy so why bother, I don't think it mattered. WC we ate with andwithout ps, not much of a wait either time( breakfast once, after park closing another)

so i'd make any you really want particularly at more popular places( Boma) and if you don't go, don't! no big deal but if you want to keep it you can. it doesn't affect anyone else either way since you don't get put "in Line' for a table till you get there.
