Are pools heated in winter?

We stayed at the Dolphin a few years ago in December and the pool was supposedly heated, but was downright frigid, too cold to swim. We are going to AKV this December. Anybody have experience swimming in the pool during winter? Is it warm enough?

Yes the pools are heated in the winter. There is usually a pool heat thread every winter, and sometimes everybody agrees that they are the right temp.

The Disney pools are definately comfortable to swim in during December. 2 years ago we went swimming in the AKL pool after the MVMCP and last year we went swimming a couple of the afternoons at VWL.

We use the pools on our Dec and Jan trips on days when the air temperature is at least 75 degrees or so. The pool temps at VWL on our Dec 2008 trip were 82-84 degrees. On our last stay at OKW in Jan 2008 the smaller neighborhood pool near building 55 was like bath water -- just wonderful! The main pool at OKW was a few degrees cooler but still fine for swimming in January. Being from the cold northeast, going swimming at WDW in Dec/Jan is always one of the highlights of our stay.

One year (2007?) they reduced the temp of the pools, and many claimed they were chilly. There were apparently enough guest comments to reverse the policy.

The pool and hot tub were very comfortable Christmas week, last year. Getting out and drying off -- well, that was a different story!

I agree. We have had that same experience with the South Point neighborhood pool at OKW too.

Don't get out - have your hot chocolate or favorite beverage brought to you in the hot tub - man, now that's vacation!
