Are perks applied to my accompanying guests? ("legitimately")

I'll be at SSR next week with my in-laws. Off the top of my head: My wife and her sister intend to get spa treatments at SSR. We intend to dine at a couple of restaurants that offer DVC discounts. We might go miniature golfing, and the biggie, we'd like to park (2 cars) at Wilderness Lodge a couple of days while in MK since we have meals planneed at Artist Point.

To get the benefit do I have to pick up the tab on my credit card in all cases? What about the parking? It seems to me they are my guests, on my points, and this should be treated like a private country-club where guests get some benefits. I hope this isn't a (another) controversial issue I'm stepping into blindly...

If you are all staying on your points, I believe all the key cards will say DVC Member on them. As for parking, you should get a parking pass for all cars staying on your reservation which means you can self park anywhere on property at no charge. For the DVC meal discount, you should just need to show one DVC card to get the discount for the entire party.

they should receive all the discounts that you get - if they need you and your member card (remember to bring it) - I am sure you will be called.

No, they don't need to go on your credit card. but they need to show the ID that says DVC member.

As others stated, as long as you are present with the party, you should have no problem getting the discount for everyone. I would recommend that you carry your blue DVC Member ID card as DVC has been consistently emphasizing presentation of this card lately to obtain discounts.

If there are times when the inlaws will try to get a discount without you, that may be a crap shoot. Most discounts are listed as being for members only and, as stated, the member ID card (NOT necessarily the room key) is used to verify eligibility.

With that said, my step-father was offered the DVC golf membership by a clubhouse CM before playing his first round a couple weeks ago. The CM must have noticed the "DVC Member" notation on the room key, and saw that as reason enough to offer the discount plan. He's not a member and neither DW nor I were present at the time.

So, if nothing else, you can count on Disney to be consistently inconsistent.

Our friends used their credit cards when treating us at The Fresh Mediterranean Grill and when we showed our DVC card, they got the 20% discount on the entire bill for 8 guests.

I used my room key with "DVC member" on it to get the discount at Planet Hollywood earlier this month. I had my room key handy when the waitress brought the check and rather than dig for my member card I asked if that was acceptable and she said yes.

The resorts do not provide parking for access to the parks unless you are staying there. I am sure you would not want to have all the parking spots at SSR taken up by people visiting Downtown Disney and Pleasure Island and not be able to park your car.

You can valet park without any problems or get a 3 hour parking pass to self park while you dine. I would valet as it is a far walk to the self parking area of WL and DVC valet for free, then tip appropriately.

Perks are formally offered to guests. The exceptions are the UMP, cash room discount and I'm blanking on the third. All restaurant discounts and similar are offered. The catch is they've started asking for the members blue card at times.
