Are people using Genie+?

Not necessarily. Or they might only be using it part of the time. To me, Genie+ seems more worthwhile for MK than Epcot. Except ILL maybe for Rat, but probably not Space Mtn.

We went 12/23- 1/4, and didnt use it once--- YMMV- (We did seven park days) -- I only purchased FoP - ($33 for the 3 of us) ---
I am not in any way, shape, or form, telling people not to purchase it. We just didnt need it, and were able to go on every ride that we wanted to-- ( most we waited for any attraction was around 90 mins)

I was there the week of Dec. 17 and did use it or buy the separate one either. It was busy but I could have ridden everything I wanted to. I go often so it wasn't worth it for me to buy either and I don't mind waiting in line. I'll be back in April for F&G and have no plans to buy it then either.

From what I saw with the LL lines, a number of people were buying it but it's up to you and you level of tolerance for waiting in line.

according to Disney itself, about one-third of guests buy it. I have not bought it, and have no plans to do so later
If that’s the case then it’s really worthless IMO. I have been on 3 trips with it & it has never been worthwhile & that’s just 1/3 of ppl using it. I finally stopped paying for it.

Can you purchase ILL w/o purchasing genie plus?

from Disney's perspective, they used to give it out for no extra cost but now have 1/3 of their guests paying for it - that's not too bad

Curious why it wasn't worthwhile for your trip? We have it for our March trip and I'd love your feedback.

One has to remember that many people who go to disney don’t read these boards. They just get talked into buying it as part of a package, read an email from Disney before their trip advertising it, see it in the app, or even see the guests going in the fast lane after they arrive and ask a CM and then download the app and buy it. I’m surprised the number is not higher than one third to be honest.

People like us who come to these boards and read all the threads are more likely to use extra hours and other strategies to minimize waits rather than buy Genie+, and/or only get it at MK and HS but skip EP and AK since there are too few rides at the latter two to make it worthwhile.

An edit:
One has to remember that many THE OVERWHELMING MAJORITY of people who go to disney don’t read these boards.

We went to Disneyland in December and felt like it was well worth it. Everything was immediate return time so we wouldn’t use them in the first half of the day, and then be able to ride everything with no wait in the second half. Is it not the same at Disneyworld?

When I used it earlier this month return times were hours away for any top tier attraction.
