Are people making multiple ADR's for the same time frame?

I'm surprised at how quickly things are booking for Dec. 5-17. Two years ago I made ADR's in Sept and got Le Cellier of all things. But at that time, the CM's would not allow mult. ADR's for the same time frame.

Is the new online system creating a situation where people are booking way more ADR's than they can use?

I have a feeling they are, as I've seen more than a few people on this board say "I have two reservations...which one should I cancel."

It's kind of aggravating to me, even though I'm not affected by it in any way. I just remember how frustrating it was this time last year trying to make ADRs and everything was booked up. Last year, the system would cancel both reservations. The not-so-nice part of me is hoping that the system starts canceling those reservations and those who're double and triple-booking end up SOL.

I can't believe they would admit it here. I think it's reprehensible and hope the next upgrade to the dining system will be to prevent the practice.

When did the online system start? I love it, but I hate how little is available. Things like WCC are filling up on some days. That's just nuts! :)

I just hope these people are kind enough to cancel the reservation they won't use! Even September, a relatively slow month, has very few ADRs left!

From my experience, the online system does not cancel both your reservations if you make a duplicate reservation for 2 different places at the same time. Last week, I was able to coordinate with another DISer for a LeCellier reservation they were getting ready to cancel. We set up our time and when he cancelled it, I was able to snag it for me and my family. When I went to confirm the reservation, I had a window pop up telling me I had another reservation scheduled at Rose and Crown for the exact same date and time and it asked me if I wanted to cancel it. Just out of curiosity, I picked no and at that point, the system let me have both reservations with another pop up window that explained the 24-hour cancellation policy and the fact that I had 2 different reservations at 2 different places that were for the same time. I was just curious about the same thing you all talking about, if the system would allow people to have multiple reservations for different places at the same times and the system will. I of course went in and cancelled my Rose and Crown reservation at that point on my own. So to answer your question, yes the system is allowing you to book at least double reservations, which I myself think is a flaw on Disney's part and hope it gets fixed.

There's a few things going on right now that you may not be aware of:
1) Disney is holding a large amount of tables back, out of the system, in preparation for CP Packages. This is probably the largest availability limiter to date.
2) The new online website has a lot of bugs and issues and it's causing some slots to become locked up in limbo. (There was someone today dealing with just that). I'm sure there's more of these slots going unreported as well (by non-DISers).
3) With ADRs at 190 days (for the time being, more than likely unintentional) a lot of high demand places are being swept up even faster than normal. (Note: before someone says it... no, it is currently not 180+10, but a flat out 190. More than likely due to a glitch/bug in the resort validation piece of the v2 website See the Reservations board for a big long thread all about it including instructions as well as speculation and discussion on whether it's intended or not).

EDIT
I forgot to mention that chances are, some people are double-booking. It's been going on since at least the V1 site was launched, and I'd guess even before then. It may have become more popular when online ADRs were released, but I wouldn't think that it's a recent thing.

The original online system started last June. The website was recently updated (mid-May I think, maybe early May) to what I have dubbed "v2" (or "Version 2").

I just hope these people are kind enough to cancel the reservation they won't use! Even September, a relatively slow month, has very few ADRs left!
September has been slow in the park attendance department, however, restaurants have typically been packed from my experience as well as several others around the boards. I know last year in Sept, it was a struggle to get most of my ADRs done right at 6am on my 90th day (it was 90 days last year).

A while ago, I tried to make an ADR for Garden Grill at 7:15pm. It didn't go through - wasn't sure if it was the website or my computer. I tried again later. It gave me 7:20 so I booked that ADR instead. I called to confirm all my ADRs, including the 7:20 at Garden Grill.

But when I went into the new system last week, it showed that I had ADRs for BOTH 7:15 and 7:20 at the same restaurant. So of course, I cancelled one right away, but it had been in the system that way for a while and I didn't know it. I had only received a confirmation e-mail for one, and the CM on the phone only showed one under my name - so I had no idea.

I'm just glad the new system showed both so that I could cancel the duplicate and make it available.

I guess that I'd better check our ADR's. I couldn't get certain times but I hope that I don't have multiple times now. I didn't mean to if I do!

I wanted to change a time for an ADR for 50s PT. I got an earlier time, but it still overlapped my old ADR. It had me cancel one of the reservations before it moved on. I obviously wasn't going to keep one, but it did make me cancel.

I think it is a combination of things like Cafeen said: holding the tables back for Candlelight Processional, the website issue, and of course OP you said you were going Dec. 5 - 17th. Pop Warner will be there during some of that time and from what I understand that is a lot of people.

I know it can be very frustrating, I hope you get the reservations you want.

When I changed my travel dates recently I called the dining folks to cancel what I no longer needed. The cast member said that I had many double booked reservations and started to name them off. They were for the same restaurants at the same exact times and party size. I booked all of my ressies online and received only 1 confirmation for each of them. I have NO IDEA how it happened. :confused3

I used the online booking system. Yes I made 2 ressies for each restaurant. Before you Tar & Feather me There are 10 of us and the system would not take ressie for 10.

I even e-mailed my agent on one certain ressie that I couldn't get. She ended up making 2 ressies too. There going to try to put us at the same table.
Birthday Celebration! :cake:

Because of the FD ressies are very difficult to get, I remember years ago only making ressies for Character Meals and maybe one or two of the more difficult restaurants. Most of our meals were planned over breakfast and a stop at Guest Relations for a time. Not any more.

I initially made a few multiple reservations because I couldn't get the time/place that I wanted. This scared me a little (that and I came in at the beginning of the 190 day frenzy) so I booked several places while I had the chance. DH, my girls and I talked about it for a couple days. I was going to keep what I had and wait for CP packages to come out and see what I could get there but in the meantime managed to snag exactly what I'd been looking for in the first place. I immediately released my extras but if that hadn't happened I would have held onto them until I knew for certain what I needed/wanted.

Originally I had to book an 8:15 PM Le Cellier because that's all there was. But about a week or so later more tables opened and I managed to snag a 5:55 PM ressie. They're releasing more tables, some of the restaurants aren't putting their tables into the system until later, some people drop ressies they don't need. Whatever you're looking for, check every day and there's the great possibility you'll be able to get something.

Case in point, I had a conference that was supposed to be in Nashville at the Opryland Hotel next month. With the flooding, our entire conference (2500 women) had to be moved 3 months before hand. We're now going to Swan and Dolphin. So I've been scrambling to try and find reservations and aside from Le Cellier, I've been able to get everything my group wanted. Things will open up between now and when you travel.

It was my first time using the online reservation system, and I accidentally made two reservations for 8:05AM CP on the same date. I didn't discover it for about two weeks when I checked back. So the system is definitely not canceling them even though it was the same date, same time, same restaurant, same number of persons

I've seen more than a few people "admit it here." My guess is they don't realize what a hot-topic it is, or that they don't realize how selfish it is.

Very few of the Pop Warner groups eat at TS restaurants. They mostly eat at QS.

I wonder why the system (or the reservations people) stopped canceling double-booked ADRs? I know for a fact that there were *a lot* of people last year who were losing double-bookings because the system or the reservations people were deleting doubles. In fact, I had called to change around some things last year and the CM at reservations said something like "We need to do this quickly because we'll lose them both if we leave them double-booked for more than a few minutes."

I'm a long shot from an expert, but I know that something was going on last year causing double-bookings to be deleted/dropped.
