Are people making ADRs in hopes of free dining?

I'm wondering if people are making ADRS (somew/o having a room booked )in hopes of free dining. I called yesterday to inquire about a AAA room at the contemporary and there were none left Aug. 7-14. I was really surprised. This made me wonder if people were planning their dining in case codes are released.

YES...I think quite a few people have booked reservations with hopes that Disney will offer the free DDP. However...I think the more people book those "just incase" reservations...the more Disney will think they have no need to offer the Free DDP becasue bookings apear to be up.

the free dining plan is not (imo) to get people to book meals... it's to get people to book ROOMS! so if restaurant bookings are up and resort bookings are flat, free dining is more likely to be offered than not...

I agree. I'm not sure they even take into consideration the restaurant bookings (although after last year, maybe they are now).

We haven't booked a resort or package, but I did make a few ADR's for the harder to get restaurants in hopes of free dining. There's only about a 2 week period that would work for us, so I made them for that time frame. If the dates are different, or free dining doesn't happen at all, we won't be going during the late summer, so I'll just cancel the ADR's (and probably make some last minute callers very happy).
