Are old PH tickets now biometric?

Sorry if this has been asked before; I did a search but maybe didn't ask the right question.

A few weeks ago we took some friends with us on a touring vacation which included a few days in Orlando. We knew we would only be doing 1 day in the parks and as I have a supply of old 7-day Park Hopper tickets (I stocked up before the change) I decided to give them a day each as a gift.

When they returned, I discovered to my surprise that they too had gone through the finger recognition system.

Eek, does that mean that these tickets can now only be used by my friends - who I know will never return to Florida again?

I don't know for a fact - but I don't think so. We have some old ones that only have pluses left that we've let various people use with no problem.

I have the exact same question--we have a few PHs with a few days left. Last year, I gave one to my DF for one day and they did the biometrics. Next year we're taking my DM--can I use the same ticket? I hope so!!

What would the biometrics do if not tie the ticket to that individual?? :confused3

I think they just have everyone do it whether they need to or not - just procedure. I say that because my Mom & I had to do it with these blank looking white tickets that they gave us at Disneyland to use for the day (we'd used our WDW Parkhoppers and they took a day off each and put it on those white tickets) But we kept them together - in other words I didn't know which belonged to either of us - and we did that biometric stuff because they asked us to - I don't think it made any difference.

I'm pretty sure that once a ticket was used, with the finger scan, it's only able to be used by that person.

That's probably why Disney started using the finger scan for everyone.

All tickets now require the finger scan. More than likely they will be the only ones able to use those tickets now.
