As I have already posted in another thread, the fact I cannot float in the ocean is a done deal for me.. Am I suppose to stand or swim for hours in the ocean? That was the relaxing part of CC just laying on the mat all day and floating

Just saw another post where all the wagons are now at the pier for parents to load the kiddos and are first come first serve.
Oh that sounds fun... people fighting for those and the poor crew having to run those back as traffic is usually one way for a while.. Can I toss grandma in there too

The post stated once taken it was for that family for the whole day, not just one way.

I love the floats as well! I saw on one video a teen/young adult put on an adult life jacket and used that to float …

Stop 2 went a little better. They must've sprayed for the flies. No where near the problem of a few days ago. On the downside of that, it also ran off all of the crabs. Didn't see a single one all day.

Generally, you are not allowed to take food on or off the ship. Usually only prepackaged/unopened snacks and drinks. This isn't a Disney rule - these are port agriculture/customs rules.
Oh no. Guess we’ll have to plan to get back on the ship for lunch if the flies are really that bad. 😕

This is precisely my point. You have spent thousands on a Disney vacation and you have to now figure out how to provide yourself with food that isn’t infested with flies?! Disney needs to get its act together.
Since we’ll be the third cruise to stop at LC, I’m hoping things will have improved somewhat. Being cautiously optimistic that it will all work out. 🙂

Yes, there is still some problems to solve.
But after viewing the video of Ben&David, when I see the details, the stunning environment and the respect of the Bahamian culture, it's really what I expect from Disney.
They did a fantastic job !
Much less. When Disney finishes the job, might be worthwhile to visit,

Order uncrustables from room service! We brought them on port excursions.

I know the WISH isn't going to LC right now, but on our last cruise we asked for uncrustables and they didn't have them. They brought us bread, peanut butter and jelly, but it was all open so we couldn't have brought it off the ship.

I'm just wondering if every other ship has the uncrustables? We did get them on the Fantasy back in 2019 and I agree this would be a great option instead of eating barbequed flies.

Curious after the preview how guests are reacting to Lookout. Anyone changing plans to visit or now planning to skip it?
Yes. Yesterday we forfeited our deposit on our August cruise to LP to be able to change it to a cruise that visits Castaway instead. I'm relieved we made the change as I wouldn't have even looked forward to the other cruise.

Why didn't you just change your cruise date? Then you wouldn't have lost your deposit.

It was already in the penalty period. You can't evade that penalty by changing the date. It's still technically a cancellation and new booking, even if they move the remaining funds over to the new reservation, which they did in my case.

I'm very relieved to now be sailing to Castaway Cay instead of Lookout Cay this summer. The fee was worth it. I will take this as a lesson to stop trusting that new Disney products will live up to our basic expectations of Disney quality.

That's changed. Disney used to allow you to change the date even within the cancellation period. Other cruise lines don't allow it...I guess Disney gave into industry pressure.

Curious which August cruise you were on? You don't have to share of course. We are on the 22-26, and I do feel that between now and then is enough time for Disney to tackle issues raised by people and that processes and things will evolve as time goes on.
Honestly, the only thing I would have even worried about is the flies and it sounds like they are already making progress there.
Not sure how much I will continue to frequent the DISboards, but if I am, I will most likely report back how our visit was.

An August cruise would already be in penalty for changes/cancellations.
Disney didn't used to penalize you for CHANGING after final payment. Cancelling, yes. But not changing.

Not thrilled they have apparently given into industry pressure since other lines haven't allowed it.

Have you been through the new port area at Nassau? It looks modern, but does it still have aggressive sellers? I would be willing to give it a try. The large video screen with sea life looks fun.
We are usually stay-on-the-ship people at Nassau (and most of the time, really). We were there in early May for the first time since the new port area was completed and decided to get off and walk around. Our experience, inside that new port area, was pleasant. We walked to check out the big screen and past there where all the colorful huts were. We didn't particuarly shop, we were just looking as we walked to the other end where the tour boats are. No one bugged us, it was nice. Very different feel, to me, from previous stops there. I do not recall a lot of benches, but it would be a nice area to just sit and enjoy the surroundings. There were several benches at the end by the tour boat area and we sat there for a while just watching.IMG_20240507_152549439_HDR.jpgDSC03189.JPGIMG_20240507_154848436.jpg

Good for by you don’t lower your standards and be upset. I’d do the same thing right now.
