Are my feet shrinking or are shoe sizes getting bigger?

I used to wear a size 8 before having children, sometimes 8.5. While pregnant and sometime after, I went up to a size 9. Up until about 6 months ago or so, I've noticed that 8.5 is too big on me, I'm back to wearing size 8. :confused3 Which makes me wonder, is it my feet or are shoe sizes getting bigger? :confused3

Sizes are getting bigger. I've worn a size 7 since I turned 14. The last three pairs I've bought I've had to get a 6.5...I was swimming in the 7. My mom's had the same problem.

I think it depends on the shoe. I've found some seem to run bigger but those little strappy numbers seem very small to me. I don't have a prayer of stuffing my sausages into any of those smaller than a 10.

Bridget,

I don't know... Last night, I bought a new pair of shoes, strappy wedges. When I held them in my hand (size 8), I thought they looked too small and like a narrow fit. I decided to try on an 8.5 and they were too big. :confused3

Did you lose weight?

I've noticed no difference.

No weight loss. :teeth:

Mal, I guess we're the only ones that have noticed it. Maybe our feet are shrinking. :confused3

Shoes are getting bigger. When I was in highschool, I ALWAYS wore a 10 (flippers, I know).

These days, I wear a 9 or 9.5. 10s are HUGE. Sometimes, even the 9 are too big.

I don't know that they are getting bigger, I used to wear a 7.5 and now I wear a 9.

That's what I was thinking too! I have shoes that used to fit me and after I lost almost 70 pounds, they are now too big on me. I've dropped about .5 to 1 full size.

The little strappy shoes do usually run small though. And the pointy shoes have a tendency to do as well.

I think some styles do run big, but I've noticed some are wider now than they used to be, which might allow for a smaller size.

It depends on the price of shes & the company. For shoes I get at Target or Payless, I'm always a size 8. Nine West shoes & fancy companies, I'm a size 7. I call this "vanity sizing."

Same with clothes, at Target, I'm an 8; expensive designer clothing, I'm a 4.

Whew! I was about to start a thread asking this same question! I've been a size 6 shoe since middle school but the last time I bought sneakers, i had to go down to a 5.5 because a 6 would not stay on without falling off! :confused3

I feel your pain!!! Well, maybe not. I have worn a 8.5 shoes for years, but I have been limited because I have wide feet. Lately, I don't have to worry so much, just about everything is wide enough. This is cool for me, but what do people with narrow feet do? :confused3

Maybe that's the reason why 8.5 are bigger on me, maybe they're wider. :confused3
