Are mermaid tails allowed?

My daughter received a “mermaid tail” flipper thing for her birthday and would like to bring it to WDW are these allowed at the pools at POP? I know I’ve seen other inflatable toys, noodles etc. but haven’t seen one of these.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong but I am almost certain they are not allowed due to the danger they can present to both the wearer and other guests. They are super cute but based on how crowded I've seen the pools most trips, I'm not even sure how far you can get a good swim in while wearing it. I feel like I read it somewhere but can't locate it just now, although a search revealed they aren't permitted at Disneyland so I'm assuming the same applies to WDW.

ETA: I have found some Disney Moms Panel posts on the topic of wearing these at WDW and the Moms have responded they were told it is not allowed.

Thanks. I was pretty sure that was the case. I didn’t think they would be. My daughter is obsessed though and wants to wear it all the time!

I saw a little girl using one of these at Saratoga Springs in a quiet pool. No lifeguard so she got away with it. It seems dangerous to me, but I don't know if it is.

There was a post a couple? Of years back on the BC/YC thread and lifeguards didn’t allow mermaid tails for the reasons given, safety of wearer and other guests. I can see it would be very easy to be kicked by a child wearing these, esp in crowded pools.

I just looked up these mermaid devices online. Very dangerous!
My daughter has had years of swim lessons and is a very strong swimmer but we will not be getting her one of these. Just a personal choice. Doesn't stop her from wanting one though because they seem very cool from a kids perspective!

Those things scare me in an "uncontrolled" situation (i.e. me not standing right there). We stayed at Marriott's Harbour Lakes in Orlando and they had a class with the tails. My DD LOVED it!!! She wanted a tail after that, but I said nope!

My daughter got it as a gift and, living in the Northeast, she hasn’t had a chance to wear it in the water yet. She’s a strong swimmer but we are planning on only letting her use it under our supervision and mostly in our own pool. I’m totally fine with telling her that she can’t bring it. One less thing to pack!

Yes, probably the best use if these is in a private pool in a more controlled setting.

We saw a couple of young girls with mermaid tails in the Polynesian pools in the zero entry areas. (So not deeper water...) (Both pools)
Not saying what is allowed, just what we saw...
for what it's worth, the weather was crazy cold and the pools were closed the day prior and no one else was in the water.
