Are Magic Bands only for WDW on site stays?

TIA for any help...we have 10 day no expire tickets that we plan to use in June of 2015. We are spending 5 nights off property, and then 5 nights on property. I am so confused about Magic Bands! Do we use those only for the stay on property, and use the regular paper tickets while we are staying off property?

I have no idea how to manage this in terms of the bands, FP+, etc. Can anyone help me understand this?

Everything must be linked to your MDE account. Link each ticket to the correct person and when you make your onsite reservation, a MagicBand will be linked to each person.

You can use your MBs to enter the park and the FP lines for all the days (10) of your visit. You can pre-book your FPs 60 days before your first day of your onsite stay for your onsite days. Because your off-site stay is before your 60-day window opens, you'll have to book FPs for your off-site stay 30 days in advance of each day of ticket usage.

The MagicBands do not hold any info. They link to the info in your MDE account.

Thanks! That helps. We only plan on using one or two of the days before our onsite stay, so it sounds like it should be pretty easy. I linked them to my MDE account today. When we are onsite, will the MBs then open our room?

Yes, they will open your room door and after you check-in, you can charge purchases to your MB which posts the charges to your room account.
