Are kids allowed in the bars/lounges?

I have no problems with well behaved children in bars, I have problems with ill behaved children of ALL ages in bars and the parents of special snowflakes in bars who ask that you not drink alcohol in front of their children... when I was in the bar first and I've never met them before... but that's a seperate issue.

Someone asking you not to drink alcohol in front of their kid in a bar is just, I dunno, divorced from reality? If the sight of someone drinking alcohol is that disconcerting then don't take your kid to a bar.

Being from WI, I don't even think about the possibility of children not being allowed in/at a bar. My dad is a bartender and the majority of memories from my childhood are of me at the bar he managed throughout the time period.

I would be very much surprised if Disney's bars and lounges weren't kid-friendly, save for a few exceptions.

Really I'm from pa and had no idea my kid could sit at the bar in Disney and have a non alcoholic drink with me. Could never happen here so I think we will do this.
I thought it was legal for a minor to sit at a bar as long as the person drinking is legal to watch them.

Heh - I was going to bring up my experience of being 19 and pregnant when my husband was 21. We went into a bar in PA (where I was born and raised) and I sat at a table behind the bar seating. My husband sat at the bar so I was right behind him with other patrons. I ordered a soda, he ordered a beer. The bartender refused to serve him because he had brought a underaged person into the bar with him and he was not my lawful next of kin. We protested that he was my next of kin and husband and the bartender said my father had to be there. We walked out and never returned to that place again and sent a letter to the establishment to inform them that their bartenders needs to be more aware that people can get married and live a full life together.

Exactly! Wisconsinites are pretty lax about the alcohol thing (not that there is anything wrong with that ;) ). Some of my best memories from childhood are from Ike Walton's Lodge in Webster, WI!

I too wish their were a couple more "adults only" places at WDW, because there surely are plenty of family places! But, there's also something about children at a bar behaving politely that makes me want to congratulate the parents on (theoretically, hopefully, and the side I err on) demonstrating and distilling responsibility into their kids. Just like well behaved children in nice restaurants do. Young men who hold open doors for women make me want to give their parents a high five and send them a drink!

The only unofficial bar/lounge I've NEVER seen kids in, but have in the restuarant, and seriously, I've probably been there 50 times, is the bar/bar area at the Bluezoo.

OP - good work on your kids eating "human food." I'm always a little *** about "kids food." We weren't raised that way, and I have no friends who allow their children to eat crap so I wouldn't even know this was a thing except for the dis. Of course, I've decided to not date people further who weren't adventurous eaters, its something so fundamental, I have no interest in having differing food/dining differences, so I'm weird about that. But when I see kids ordering basil, blah, blah, mocktails and ceviche though! I get so happy. Love those baby foodies!
My child has been to BlueZoo lounge. She hates it. Because when we've been, it's too noisy to hear her iPad....and she has to behave.

She recently ate the last fried oyster on the share-plate in the center of the table. Her parents were so proud.

Anyway, she informed us that she no longer enjoys Camp Dolphin (because they no longer let the kids self-serve their soft-serve ice cream at Picabo), so she will be joining us at blueZoo dinners. I think the short-rib & scallop appetizer has her name all over it.....she just turned 8....my kid, for sure.

In Minnesota, it's not a big deal. Kids are always in the bars, having a kiddy-cocktail, helping mom open pull tabs, ;) etc.

We like to hit the lounges for the appetizers/an adult beverage. My kids have decided they are too old for the kids clubs now (boooo...), but I know they would enjoy kicking back in a lounge, having some snacks and a few kiddy cocktails.

Specifically thinking Nomad and Territory Lounge.

I know Trader Sam's is adult only after a certain time...any other lounges the same? Or, straight up where kids aren't allowed?
mine has been going to Scat Cat's and River Roost at Port Orleans for years ... lots of kids at Riverside when Yee Ha Bob plays his early show. ;)

I wish Trader Sams was adult only all the time. But I love their spiel at 7:45..."to all our junior skippers under the age of 21 we think you're great....we think you're wonderful...we think you're outstanding!!!!...but at 8:00 we need you out standing in the hall!"

It sounds like your kid is awesome. Good work - you're totally doing it right. I mean, she has an expanded palette, she knows the value of ice cream, AND she knows she has to behave? You're like the parenting triple crown!

For those who live in more restrictive states like we used to, imagine OUR surprise when we moved to Texas and a waiter asked us if our 15 year old son would need a glass for the bottle of wine we ordered at dinner. I laughed out loud and told him he was only 15 - then the waiter informed us that in Texas, minors can drink as long as they are with their parents. And here we thought it was a big deal when we first moved to Florida and discovered our son could sit at the bar with us!!

Oh I so hope someone says that to me this July. How ridiculous.

Why on earth would someone bring their child to a bar if they don't want anyone to drink alcohol in the child's presence? I can sort of comprehend the mind-set of someone taking umbrage to people drinking at their table at Biergarten (though if anyone gave me grief, I'd just order more schnapps), but expecting people in a bar to abstain from alcohol just because you brought little Snotleigh along is just mind-boggling.

Depends on the state laws. In WA you have to be 21+ to even enter a bar. If it's a bar and grill under 21 is allowed but they have to be a certain number of feet from the bar at all times and have to leave by a certain time, I think 9pm.

Hmmm. I have no idea the actual law in Chicago, but I have NEVER seen a kid in a bar. And I've been to many in my years on this earth. ;) In a restaurant waiting for their table at the bar? Sure. But a lounge/bar with no restaurant attached? No.

I would think at WDW in the restaurants with attached lounges/bars, it would be fine.

At regular bars - which, what are they? Trader Sams, Jelly Rolls...are there some at Disney Springs? Those should have either no children allowed or not after a certain time.

Jelly Rolls is over 21 only.

To be "fair" they didn't directly ask me to stop drinking they heaved a heavy sigh and said to "no one in particular" that they couldn't believe people thought it was appropriate to drink in front of children :confused3 I bit my tongue before repeating her sigh and saying I couldn't believe people thought it was appropriate to complain about people drinking in a bar... mostly because my husband hates confrontation.

Good for you!!
