My husband would prefer not to bring a jacket on our next cruise. However, is a jacket required for Paolos for men?

Also, do men ever wear dress shorts and a polo shirt to dinner on a 4 night Wonder cruise?

Thanks for any advice,

Jackets are highly recommended at Palo...you will not be turned away w/o one....However, the one time I opted not to wear a jacket, I felt really, really out of place and under-dressed....every male had a jacket on....

Yes, jackets are required, and you would feel out of place without one.

No shorts in the dining room at night, even dress shorts, even on the short cruises.

As I recall, the navigators, under the section on dining options, said "no shorts or jeans in the dining rooms" every evening including theme nights.
Just some info I'm passing along. Not making any value judgements on what you wear to dinner.
You will have a fantastic time whatever you wear or don'twear. I,personally, am more interested in the actual dining!!LOL

On the Western itinerary, shorts are allowed on Wednesday in Cozumel. To my knowledge, that's the only night.

Current Navigator's state jacket "required" in Palo for dinner. I did see a couple of people without the jacket and they were not turned away.

As for shorts, the Navigators still say no shorts or jeans even on tropical/mexicali night--but I do often see them in the dining rooms for these nights (not a lot of them, but some.)

**edited to add
I just checked my Navigator from 2 weeks agao. The Navigator has jacket recommended on most nights by the description for Palo--with only one night listing jacket required instead of recommended. As for tropical/mexicali night it specifically did state no shorts/jeans please right next to the dining times, although as I said before I did see shorts in the dining room. ***

On our cruise in May there was one gentleman without a jacket and he looked out of place. He did not seem to be fazed by it though. - Mike

We ate at Palo on formal night. There was quite a mix of attire for the men. Jackets with ties, no jacket with tie, polo shirts, button downs no tie. I think the guys in our party wore no jacket with a tie. We actually stopped and chatted with one of the officiers about eating a Palo. He asked us if we had made reservations yet and we said we hadn't because the guys didn't have jackets. He said not to worry and go with just the tie. We didn't feel out of place.

I am positive our waiter told us that on Tropical night dress shorts were allowed.

Not the original question but I did see a fellow come into Palo with a tank-top on. He looked very out of place and was turned away.

Jackets are recommended, but not required. When we cruised a few weeks ago, I just wore a dress shirt with a tie and there were many men that didn't even dress that nice. Only a couple of men wore jackets and they didn't wear ties either.

This is taken directly from the Disney Cruise Line website FAQ section titled "What do I bring for evenings?"

"For Lumière's and Triton's restaurants and our adults-only alternative dinner restaurant, Palo, it is suggested that men wear jackets or a button-down shirt and tie and ladies wear dresses or pantsuits."

When we cruised on a 3 day last October I saw lots of people at Dinner all 3 nights in shorts and several people also had on jeans.
This was by far the most casual Disney cruise we had been on. Our 5th.
