I know when high temps are below 70, the pools close.
Do the quiet pools and hot tubs close also?
We'll be at Boardwalk and there is not a fence around the quiet pool or hut tub.

Interesting. Is this new? We've swam many, many times when the Temp is in the 50's in the very recent past. I know they do close them once it gets to be certain temp, but it's definitely much lower than 60s.

If the Main Feature pool is closed, then yes.

This will be a total bummer for my girls if true! I specifically asked when we booked for December about Stormalong Bay at Beach Club and they assured me it will be open Christmas week even if the temperature is in the 50's. I understood that all Disney pools are heated.

We went in the main pool at Boardwalk when it was around 65 degrees one evening last November. It had been warmer during the day. But the pool was not closed and it was below 70. We had a couple of days below 70, and I don't think the pool was closed at all during our trip.

Where did you hear that the pools close for a low temp? I've been to Disney World when it was in the 40's and the pools were open. Kids swimming in them too.

I think I do recall hearing one day last year that resort pools were temporarily closed one day due to frigid temperatures, but it's rare.

My daughter swam in that crazy cold spell in 2010. It was so cold there was steam rising off the Hippy Dippy pool. But I think they are closed now when there are no lifeguards now, so maybe they close them because so few people are crazy enough to swim in really cold temps.

I was there this past January, at Pop, and there was one night in the 20’s where I ran home in the pre-dawn hours to put my faucets on drip. The Pop pools were closed one day then. The next day there were people in the pool, but they were staying pretty still and submerged to stay warm. Weather that cold is pretty rare, but I can see closing the pools if the temps are freezing or below.

Yes. I think that’s the last time I heard they were closed.

20s is frigid! And hard to keep up with heat system unless it was built for it, like a pool I know of up near Lake Superior.

That’s not true.

The only time I’ve seen them closed was when it was in the 30s. And that was after December 2010, because pools were open the whole time we were there that cold week or so.

But if the main pool is closed, the hot tub will be, too.

I know the waterparks close when it's under 70--Typhoon Lagoon was closed this past Friday. I thought the resort pools did also. I have been there when they are closed and thought 70 was their magic number too.

We've been at Typhoon Lagoon around Thanksgiving when it was cold ( I was bundled up on a lounge chair with a blanket and my husband and son were swimming). Right now Blizzard Beach is closed for renovation. Typhoon Lagoon should still be open.

I googled then looked up the temp on the 16th. It was between 49 and 65 that day. I bet it was the lower number that was far more important for decision making on their part.

I have been there when they did not have lifeguards working the pools. Most recent was this past January, close to NYE. I haven't a clue what the temps were or how many days they closed but they did have signs out some of the days. So yeah, they do close the pools at least by the fact that they didn't staff them with lifeguards. I've been there 2 other times where they had signs up indicating no lifeguards on duty due to cold temps too.

Yep, this is the difference now. No lifeguard, no pool.
