Are Heallies allowed @ WDW?

OK so flame away but I sware I was going to fall over laughing because my DH and I saw a kid in heallies on the soaring exit fall flat on his face! He was like 14, and was speeding down the ramp and making people jump out of his way, and next thing we know hes flying. We made sure he was ok but I still can't forget that.
* This is one of the many reasons I despise these shoes, but I know my kids never getting a pair!

One my co-worker bought her children a pair just before Christmas. The FIRST time that her DS put them on, he broke his leg in TWO places. Dr told her that he sees these type of injuries from heeleys all the time!!!
This is a kid that is a whiz on skates, skate boards etc.

That however is a parent decission.

I was almost ran over by a teen at the mall last week where heeleys are NOT allowed. My queston is why do places not inforce their own rules?

Thanks for the heads up. FYI the healie wearer is 7 and is a slow awkward skater that needs me to hold his hand. I do not like them in public places either but I thought it would be a good way to keep him going when he tires. But if you all wanna start bashing me go on ahead. I can take it.Bash away. I am not reading the thread anymore now that I got my answer.

wow :scared1:

DS(9) has had 5 pairs of Heelys. He knows that when we are anyplace where there are a lot of people, then he can Heely but he has to hold on to me.

:rotfl2: :rotfl:

That's totally how I'd respond. If you're stupid and rude enough to roller skate in a theme park you deserve what you get.

We just got back on Saturday and you wouldn't believe the amount of kids wearing heelys. DS was very upset, because while he wore his heelys, he wore them without the wheels. The wheels were back home in PA. Every time he saw someone wearing them he would point them out and say, 'Hey, mom, those people are breaking the rules.'

The kid in me says - boy, they look like fun..!

But, I was pregnant 2 summers ago... and almost got knocked over three different times by someone in Heallies... They just were going fast, concentrating on themselves and didn't even see the pregnant lady! (me!) It was pretty scary.

So, the adult in me says they're too dangerous. (Ah, when did I get old?? lol)

I would have been LMAO if I had seen that! :rotfl2: And then pointed out to my DD that's what happens when you break the rules! ;)

We saw a lot of kids wearing them the other week and it was beyond annoying. I'd normally grab a CM and make them do something but I was trying to be super laid back and relaxed so I let it go. As you can see it's still eating at me! :lmao:

Also saw a few of those super huge fixed wheel jogging strollers there. I thought those weren't allowed either and the parks were packed too.

My child will never own a pair of these. .

Neither will mine, and I'm currently wearing the Scarlett "M" on my forehead because of it. That stands for Mean Mom. :lmao:

Conversation on Saturday:

DD: I want Heelies...they are soooooooo cool...and fun too.
Me: I'm sorry, no Heelies.
DD: Why? Please?
Me: No because they are expensive, you already have shoes and skates-you don't need shoeskates, and because I think they are a nuisance in public.
DD: Please? PULEEEZ.....Paige's mom let her have Heelies
ME: No, and I'm not Paige's Mom
DD: That's not fair...Paige gets everything
Me: are you sure? Does she have a pool?
DD: No
ME: Does she have an elephant?
DD: Mom...who wants an elephant?
Me: Well you said she had everything...I was just curious if she had an elephant
DD: UUHHGG!!! You just don't understand.
Me: AW come let me give you a hug. I really do understand...I just don't agree.

Modell's has them for 15.00. They are getting rid of their stock. I bought DS a new pair and DNiece a pair for Easter...

Ohhh thanks for that link- going to have to measure backpacks now! (tend to give DH a huge one to carry so the rest of us carry less :lmao: - he's a big man, he can handle it :lmao: )

Should add I managed to convince my eldest she'll be leaving her heelies behind with the promise of some crocs & jibbitz! (which i was planning to get anyway but she doesn't need to know that :lmao: )

The backpack thing is really to prevent "backpacking" style backpacks or wheeled luggage. Pretty much any standard day pack will be okay. :)

Am I the only one who had to read past the OP to find out what these Heely things were :rotfl2:

I have 2 toddlers under 4 so that is my only excuse!

For the record, we were in WDW Mar 29-Apr 4 and I saw them a handful of times. Not bang right out in the open but in lines or smaller areas. I remember thinking to myself 'No *way* are those allowed !"
