Are Heallies allowed @ WDW?

Thanks in advance.
Lisa

I can't find the link, but it is on the WDW website that they are not allowed in the parks or any other WDW property.

And just as an FYI, this is a very hot topic on these boards. Most people on here dislike them and the discussion usually gets a little "tense." Just wanted to give you the head up!

I saw a little boy get hurt on them in the airport last year, I was so relieved when security told him to take them out after the parents did nothing.

Thanks for the heads up. FYI the healie wearer is 7 and is a slow awkward skater that needs me to hold his hand. I do not like them in public places either but I thought it would be a good way to keep him going when he tires. But if you all wanna start bashing me go on ahead. I can take it.Bash away. I am not reading the thread anymore now that I got my answer.

I know they're not allowed, but apparently some people think rules are for other people because last week at Epcot, I saw a whole family of young siblings heelin around the Land Pavilion. It was crowded, they were on that sloped part, it was hazardous, and it was ridiculous.

I hate those things!

Here's the info:

Q. Are there any personal items I should not bring with me into the Theme Parks?

A. Items that you may not bring into the Theme Parks include, but are not limited to:

Items with wheels, such as wagons, skateboards, scooters, inline skates, shoes with built-in wheels, two-wheeled or three-wheeled conveyances, strollers larger than 36" x 52", suitcases, coolers, or backpacks with or without wheels larger than 24" long x 15" wide x 18" high (coolers required for medication may be stored in a locker or at Guest Relations), and any trailer-like object that is pushed or towed by an ECV wheelchair or stroller
Alcoholic beverages
Weapons of any kind
Folding chairs
Glass containers (excluding baby food jars and perfume bottles)
Pets (unless they are service animals)
In Disney's Animal Kingdom® Theme Park (for the safety of the wildlife), balloons, straws and drink lids are not permitted.

The above was cut/pasted from the theme park FAQ on the official WDW site.

Ohhh thanks for that link- going to have to measure backpacks now! (tend to give DH a huge one to carry so the rest of us carry less :lmao: - he's a big man, he can handle it :lmao: )

Should add I managed to convince my eldest she'll be leaving her heelies behind with the promise of some crocs & jibbitz! (which i was planning to get anyway but she doesn't need to know that :lmao: )

I would never bash anyone. I just wanted to let you know it was a hot button issue. I have seen a number of new people start threads about Heelys, Cutting in Line, Scooters, etc. and are shocked when the thread gets heated.

Last month, I saw a cast member in AK stop a family and WAIT while the mom removed the wheels from her kids' Heelies. :thumbsup2

I hate it when I see Heely's in the park and will not allow my DH to take his, but my niece and her daughter went with us on our last trip and she let her daughter wear hers even though I told her they were not allowed. At AK they stopped her and told her to make sure they did not use the wheels - but did not make her take the wheels out.

Some CMs will say something and others won't. I have seen CM's stop people and tell them they are not allowed and I have seen other CM's keep walking by.

For starters, I don't like Heeleys and I'm glad that they're not allowed in the park. Is there anyplace besides the WDW web-site that says Heeleys are not allowed?

I am a teacher.... can't stand them! They aren't allowed at school either but some parents don't help to enforce the rules. They send Junior to school and, of course, the kid PROMISES not to use them in school.... that NEVER works.
The temptation is too great.... they are kids.... they either "give in" or just plain forget. I wish ALL parents would understand how dangerous these shoes can be in crowds and confined spaces!

I hate the things as well.

I was in a supermarket yesterday and there were two children about 10 years old racing up and down one of the isles, much to the amusement of their parents.

I think the problem is more one of poor parenting, than the choice of recreation equipment.

My son had a pair (until he outgrew them.) He was very limited in the number of places he was allowed to use them.

For what it's worth, I fight with my daughter several months a year over whether or not she'll wear flip flops to school. They aren't allowed, but that's another rule that's not enforced.

Sorry, sweetheart, mommy's a teacher. I KNOW that if there were a fire, you wouldn't be able to move quickly (especially on stairs) in those things. That's one battle I choose to fight every time.

Oooooo, give that cast member a raise! Good for them! :thumbsup2
Our local grocery has a sign on the entrance saying they're not allowed, but does that stop anyone? Noooooo ...... :sad2:

My child will never own a pair of these. I think they're absolutely ridiculous. We had to walk like normal people. There was no such animal as shoes with built in wheels.

The reason that I hate them most though is because so many kids who have them are so careless and don't pay attention to those around them. I can't tell you how many times I've almost been hit at the mall or at a store by a child who is "skating" around in them.

I'm so glad WDW banned them even though some people think that some rules don't apply to them. I wish more places banned them.

It does kind of bug me that parents who let their children wear Heely's where they are banned don't understand that it's for safety. It's not because the place wants to be mean and spoil everyone's fun, they just don't want anyone getting hurt.

Let's be clear...Heely's the shoe --without wheels---are fine to wear at WDW or anywhere. It is when the wheels are installed in the shoes that they become an issue.
