I know as recently as the day before the stay at home order a week ago they were, but I’d imagine they are closed now. Just thought foot golf might be a good social distancing activity for our anniversary tomorrow.

Still open according to the website 42758F41-449C-4B9B-A0B3-A84A5D554689.jpeg

I saw verbiage on Disney Worlds website. Actually when the governor announced the safer home mandate. The Florida Chapter of the PGA (or some such thing) specifically asked for clarification in regards to allowing golf courses remain open. The gov't said they could remain open.

Most courses in the Jacksonville are are open. However the restaurant portions of their club houses are closed.

Man, I feel so bad for the people running the shop where you pay for greens fees, club rentals etc. That is NOT an essential service and sucks they are being forced to put themselves and their families at risk for others' entertainment.

Well at WDW, Disney is limiting golfing / footgolfing currently.

Guests have to reserve and pay online. There is no loading or unloading of golf equipment except where special assistance in requested. No cash is accepted and no rental equipment is available. Even bunker rakes and ball washers have been removed along with the cup depth reduced for easier ball retrieval. Also guests are also asked to leave the flag sticks in the hole.

The golf carts are sanitized before each use.

How do you know they aren't glad they are still open and able to continue making a living? Most places are gutted and have as little as one employee working at times, so hours are quite competitive. Anyone working at one of these places probably wants to. Do you get takeout food from restaurants? I'd say those aren't essential either. Certainly not to the extent that they are available. There is more than one way to look at things.

These are the same procedures our local course here in Virginia has implemented. My wife, son and I almost always walk, so we are able to go play 18 and not touch anything that we didn't bring with us. It's been really nice to still be able to get outside and play. Even though she doesn't play, my daughter tagged along for 9 holes one day just to get out and walk.

Of course nobody wants to be restricted from earning a paycheck until they are one of their loved ones is dying in an ICU alone. Once you've had covid, you won't be saying that contactless delivery from restaurants is nonessential. I'd like to see you feed three kids when you're trying not to touch them or anything they touch.

Kind of seems like those exceptions swallow the rule though. Contact where "special assistance is requested". Guests remove their balls more easily, but do they have to wear gloves to do it? Golf carts cleaned off by the staff. Feels more like their restrictions are akin to TSA-like security reassurance rather than a meaningful protection against spreading disease.

Why are you not touching your kids? You are at home and it is ok to still interact with those in your house?
