Are goatee passe?

No "goatee lovin" for me. Now I hate those patches (not sure of the name). It just looks like they have dirt on their face.

We also have a person talking about "adorable mullets" on the DIS too.

I think they're called "soul patches" and I'm not a fan either. And just for the record, mullets are NOT on my list of aphrodisiacs

Dh has one and looks amazinly sext with it. He shaved it off at X-Mas time to see if he would like it and I HATED it. He did not like it either. So, it is back and I am happy.:cool1:

I've sported one since high school. Mostly because it grows fast and nothing else on my face does. Kind of annoying. If Apollo is trendy, he's copying me. I'm just sayin'. ;)

I think we should forget mutton chops and go for the Ambrose Burnsides sideburns (their namesake):

Brad Pitt doesn't think they are passe'.

Brad Pitt has his goatee because he is filming a move based on the book "The Lost City of Z", about the famous South American explorer Percy Fawcett.

Here is a link to the book on Amazon:

I am currently reading the book. Very, very interesting. Fawcett was convinced that a huge, lost civilization was hidden away somewhere in the Amazon basin of Brazil. Fawcett was famed for his ability to endure hardships, etc, and he had several times gone into the Amazon basin to search for his lost city, only to emerge months later to report failure (although he did extend our knowledge of the Amazon area).

He and two companions (including a son of his) went into the Amazon one last time in 1925. We are still awaiting his return (indeed, several expeditions went looking for Fawcett in the decades following, only to never return themselves; the largest expedition supposedly had 1,000 men, and never returned).

I love a goatee on dh, but he hates any hair on his face so the only time he grew them was when I am pregnant. He kept them the whole 9 months. I used to think he was doing it for me, but now that I look back he may have done that just to keep things going (if you KWIM) when I was not interested. I think he may have some explaining to do when I ask him about it tonight

Anyway OP, I think goatees look sexy, go for it, and you should definitely post a pic after you do :rolleyes1

Well I'm definitely not a soul patch fan, and I definitely think Apolo needs to get rid of his. But I absolutely love goatees. :)

IMO, they only improve a man's looks if he's bald. I have no idea why I think that -- I guess it sort of balances out the shape of the head.

If you've got a full head of hair, then you probably look better without a goatee.

He's near Paradise Falls with a cadre of talking dogs. I saw a documentary about it or something... ;)

I hear them called the mullet of the '90s, and NASCAR mustache.

I agree I think the goatee and soul patch are just the white bread equivalent of the redneck mullet!

I really have seen few men who I think look good with them.

I'm not crazy aobut them, but they are waaaay better than that teeny, tiny thin beard that follows the jawline. *SHUUDER* I hate those! Tehre's this guy at the Japanese fast food place I go to soemthimes that has one. Teeny beard, gold jewelry and trucker hat. Blech!!!

I LOVE a man with a goatee, to bad DH cannot grow one. He grows that horrible sideburn thing that a previous poster posted, and those are just plain FUGLY!! :scared1:
