Our subdivision normally has our own fireworks show but we received a flyer this week that it has been cancelled due to finances, $8000 for the fireworks and they did not receive the donations they expected from local businesses. A co-worker told me tonight her town has cancelled theirs as well. Just wondering if this is going to be a common occurence for this July 4th. The city we work in is still having theirs and I'll bet it will be incredibly crowded because of the cancellation of the others.

I saw on the news last week that 3 local businesses made contributions and saved the fireworks in a local town...

I believe that ours are still on.

I am not positive but I don't think our city ever had them but the neighboring city that is smller then ours does. I am not sure if they are still on. It wasn't much of a show so I am fine with it either way.

Ours are on, and they are even adding to the event - stuff going on all day. We have an old fashioned commission style government, and each commissioner tries to outdo the others with town events. Concerts, street parties, ladies night - every week there seems to be some event partly paid for by my 5 figure tax bill.

The two bigger shows in our area are still having fireworks but three of the smaller shows in the little communities are cancelled as of right now.

We don't have fireworks here for Independence Day. Ours are for our town festival in August. As far as I know, they're still on. Thousands of people come so the town makes a lot of money on the festival. I think the festival is the only thing that keeps most of the churches and small businesses in town alive!

My town cancelled. They are doing a lot of less expensive things during the day, but I still think it's kind of sad.

Another town near us also cancelled, but one (ironically, the smallest of the three) is still having theirs.

Our is still on, but being held on the 3rd instead of the 4th, to save money I'm sure.

We have a big display in our town

I live in the country and worry about neighbors shooting this year. We are having a severe drought and the grass is very, very dry.
