Are fans or white noise machines allowed?

We've never had any problem carrying ours in our carry on OR in checked. Might have been the reason our carry on got a more thorough look at the airport, but hard to say, as it was the bag that had lots of chargers, the fan, electronics, etc.

I have a travel sound machine that stays in my carry-on bag. I have a bigger one at home at my bedside. I literally do NOT leave home with out my sound machine or my travel pillow. I have taken this sound machine on multiple cruises with zero issues. Mine was not a cheap one, ordered it online, but I've had it several years and it's still going strong!
