Are extra magic hour days really that bad?

Haven't tried EMH but interested in trying this year..can someone tell me one of the biggest pros and one of the biggest cons?

I LOVE morning EMH at Magic Kingdom. Love it! We get so much done in that first hour, and even a couple hours after that. Then the rest of the day is free to enjoy the park at a relaxing pace using fast pass reservations made for later in the day, or hop to another park, or whatever!

However, I would not go to a morning EMH park if I was going arrive later than the EMH time. Defeats the purpose.

I agree totally. We crush MK the first 2 hours or so during morning EMH. We have been through all the touring plans but we have learned never to skip the MK early EMH.

Us too!! Walked onto everything. We went to EMH at night at MK and it was so crowded, we left.

We are going in August and the MK has EMH from 11 pm - 1 am on the Sunday we will be there. I'll have my 5 year old with me (her first time) and am hoping that the crowds may be less around 11 pm that night? This may of course change depending on a nap and her attitude but my hope is that we can do some character greets at that 11 pm time frame. Am I being optimistic?

We love morning EMH and usually go to them every day they are available. We get there at rope drop and stay till around lunch. We then hop to another park. I love the extra hour in the morning. We always get a lot done.

Summertime Evening EMH are the most important to us. If EPCOT closes at 10:00 and MK is open until 2AM with EMH why would I not go to MK for the late night hours.

Space Mountain will be busy anyway since the little ones are not usually riding it but the park is much more empty than mid day.

I agree that a park with EMH is more crowded during the day. Fantasyland is nuts at 1PM but empty at 1AM.

Hopping is the way to go.

Our usual MO is to hit the EMH then leave at or right after lunch, lounge at the resort pool or a waterpark, then hit the evening EMH after dinner. This works well for us.

This overrepresents the EMH schedule. This is currently only possible on Mondays.

I always allow one hour between major destinations at WDW. Might be less, but an hour is a good number.
