Bin reading some posts about army personnel visiting seaworld or busch free of charge. Do that include ex army personnel? My hubby left years ago but still has id. also does it include British army?? on the website you have to enter what state you are from, no mention of UK! Any help would be appreciated, thanks

Hello,

I can't answer the question about whether ex army personnel are included or not I'm afraid, but there is some information in this recent thread about how to apply via the website.

I remember reading a post about this last year, at one point the british army (serving Forces) still could get in but i believe this has been stopped. When my DH left the Army he had to hand back all ID, It would be nice though :)

My son is in the TA and we got into Seaworld free in December. He went to the gate and asked if the offer applied to British Servicemen as well. He was asked if he was with anyone and he said just his parents. They gave us 3 free tickets and did not ask for ID, which he had on him, or any other info.

Certainly, as mentioned on the other thread (posted by Miffy), the offer does apply to British Forces. This is the eligibility info off the website:

Any active duty, active reserve, ready reserve service member or National Guardsman is entitled to free admission under the Here's to the Heroes program. He or she need only register, either by clicking here and submitting his or her information or in the entrance plaza of participating parks, and show a Department of Defense photo ID. As many as three direct dependents of military personnel also are entitled to free admission. Dependents may take advantage of the offer without their service member, though an adult must accompany minor dependents.

If you are ex-Army, that suggests you are still a reservist (although I am not sure what is meant by Active Reserve). I would say it is worth downloading the form, filling it in and trying it out.

With regard to the comment about the offer ending, it was supposed to end on 31 December 05 but has now been extended throughout the whole of 2006 :)

As ex Provost and Security for the RAF, a couple of things come to mind.
1) When leaving the armed services, it is an offense not to hand in your ID card
2) No serviceman on vacation should take their ID card out of the UK with them. This is for two reasons, security and the chance of being identified as a serviceman by terrorist organisations.
No ex serviceman should have an ID card anyway.

(I should asay, its been a few years now since I was in the mob, so regulations might have changed, but I doubt it. :) )

ITA. DH actually HAS to take his ID card on holiday at the moment but, normally when we are on the mainland, we most definitely leave it at home. How long have you ben 'out' Obi?

It seems forever Wilma. :-0

About ten years now :-(

Loved it, but these days most of the beases I served at have been closed. I was based at RAF Newton, with secondments out from there, but even Newton has now been closed. :(

My ex was in the Navy - and as he was in honduras at the time of the typhoon a few years ago, we were told we would definitely get in shades of green when meeting him on that trip - had already booked poly tho and just didn't want to switch. don't know what the rules are nowadays tho.

DH is in the AF and must carry his ID card at all times.

I'm glad they've extended that offer to the British servicemen. Did the Disney offer, a few years ago, include the Brits as well? Can't remember.

Shades of Green is a great deal, Cinderella. It's been renovated and it looks great, although I haven't stayed there in awhile.
